Cheesy compliments can feel fake or forced, but they might be the most honest a person can get. Giving someone a compliment, especially a cheesy one, means letting your guard down to tell other person know what you really think about them. Making it "cheesy" or dorky makes it a easier to slide under the defenses and save face in case the person receiving the compliment doesn't react positively. If you're receiving the compliment your initial reaction might be to recoil in an awkward daze, but don't. There can be some real earnest care coming from those awkward words.

Reddit user, u/f3jaideep, wanted to hear about:

What is the cheesiest compliment you ever got?

Excitement Turned To Sadness

"You are a handsome man and if I was younger i would try my luck."

Some lady that passed me while I was sitting at the bar in an irish pub by myself. Came out of nowhere I was confused for a second but was quick enough to say thanks. Don't get me wrong it still felt good hearing a compliment like that out of nowhere but in that moment it also really saddened me it wasn't someone [remotely] close my age and I quickly left afterwards so I don't sad drink lol.

Solid As A Rock

Some rando when I was about 15:

"You must have been born in a gravel pit 'cuz you rock my world."

SugaredZebra

Thank...You?

"If I was a woman, I'd want a body like yours".

Weird and cheesy, all in one.

I was the "good one of the litter".

Like thanks, but did you just call me a dog?

The cheesiest compliment was during dessert when a dinner guest said:

"Your homemade cheesecake is so rich, I feel it turning to pound cake with each bite."

Back2Bach

No, Really, Thank...You?

Well not cheesy but idk what it's consider but, "you better tie up your shoes so you don't fall on that pretty face of yours"

Esmton

Does This Qualify As A Compliment?

You're the prettiest girl in a scooter (mobility issues) I've ever seen!"

No lie, it's happened TWICE. Different guys, different times.

People Still Pass Notes?

I had a random girl pass me a note in the school library asking to be my girlfriend. Looking back, she was kind of cute but I was too embarrassed to follow up on it. I just got up and left. I could have had a lot of fun if I wasn't so shy when I was a teenager.

Riding The Smoky High

Just a few days ago I was at a college event where we had a bonfire, I was sitting around talking with a couple people I had never met before. The smoke kept coming straight for me, despite my moving out of its way. The girl across from me commented, "Well you know the smoke always goes after the prettiest person." Played it off and laughed with everyone, but I've legit been riding that high for some time now.

A new teacher pointed at our class picture and said, "Whos that, she's really pretty". I was like "Hmm.. Thanks, I guess.'

Edit: [I'm] a Dude and look nothing like a girl at all.

When Ruth Bader Ginsburg passed away in the fall of 2020, the United States panicked.

Namely, democrats and liberals were terrified by the prospect of another conservative judge on the United States Supreme Court, which already had a two-seat majority.

Then of course, there was the ongoing debate as to whether or not then-sitting president Donald Trump was entitled to pick another Supreme Court judge, as the 2020 presidential election was only weeks away.

Barack Obama was famously banned from appointing Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court owing to the fact that it was an election year, even though President Obama still had eight months left in his presidency.

Of course, RBG's death at age 87 also brought to the forefront an ongoing debate about whether there should be age limits for Supreme Court Justices.

As humans with autonomy and knowledge, we try to protect ourselves as much as we can. However, accidents do happen, and while we can expect the unexpected, we can't always protect ourselves from it.

Because there isn't always a defense, people sometimes have a close brush with death. They experience something that could've killed them but, by some miracle... didn't.

More people have stories like that than we expect.

Redditors are no exception and, in fact, were eager to share their close calls.

Until we're in a situation, we'll never really know how we'll react.

I have been in this scenario, though.

Sex matters. And people rarely want to admit how much.

But sex isn't a lifetime guarantee.

It fades, as does love.

It's important to speak about it.

It can be a fixable situation.

A relationship without sex may not be the end of the world, but it's definitely a sign that something is off.
