Woman Goes Viral After Stranger Asks Her To 'Finish The Lyrics' Of Lady Gaga's 'Shallow'βAnd Boy Does She Ever
A new viral internet video featuring some a capella singing strangers proves that, apparently, the underground metro station is the place to find the real show stoppers.
For one amateur singer and songwriter, the video's explosion brought her the 15 seconds of fame that everyone's chasing.
As for the others in the video, they were either uncommitted or downright hostile.
Facebook user Kevin Freshwater spent a Sunday afternoon running around Liverpool, England with a smartphone camera and an unplugged microphone. With deceiving speed and zero regard for personal boundaries, he approached strangers in public and encouraged them to sing all sorts of popular music, from Queen to The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air theme song.
Freshwater would suddenly appear inches from a stranger's face, shout "FINISH THE LYRICS" in an unconvincing game show host style voice and sing the first line or two from the song, stopping to let the person finish.
People in Liverpool were WILD.
At the 2:15 mark of the video, Freshwater approaches a woman in the metro station. She was more receptive than most and accepted the call-and-response with a shy vibrato.
An impressed Freshwater egged her on.
Two lines later she was full on belting the song, "Shallow," popularized by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper in the 2018 A Star is Born remake. Who knew the Liverpool metro station had such acoustics?
Listen to that echo.
When Freshwater posted the video to Facebook and Instagram it gained quite a bit of traction.

When some internet sleuths found Charlotte Awbery's Instagram, people were quick to check out what else she's been up to.
She now has 70k followers and over 17k likes on her most recent post, which became a forum for heaping praise after the subway "Shallow" performance.

One other singer, at the 0:43 mark in Kevin Freshwater's video also garnered a good amount of positive buzz, though not quite to the degree as Ms. Awbery.
He's a singer in his own right as well, with an Instagram full of his performances, one even on Britain's Got Talent.
It goes to show that you never know what kind of talent is walking around you on the sidewalk or in the subway.
New York City often gets a bad rap for being a tough, callous city.
But every once in a while something happens that cracks that facade, revealing the humanity underneath.
For one New Yorker, that magical moment recently came on a busy subway.
Civil rights attorney Joel Wertheimer was minding his own business on the 4 train Sunday night after what he described as "a really tough week" when a shirtless man with a speaker entered his train blaring the Backstreet Boys' classic 1999 hit "I Want It That Way."
Wertheimer managed to catch a bit of the singalong that followed, as his fellow New Yorkers decided to belt it out together in a joyous, cathartic release.
In an interview with the Huffington Post, Wertheimer revealed that part of his week had involved attending the funeral of Layleen Cubilette Polanco, a trans inmate at Rikers Island who was found dead in her cell earlier this month. So his mood was understandably subdued.
The mass karaoke session on the train worked to bolster his spirits and soon after he posted the video online, it quickly spread garnering nearly 1.4 million views.
Wertheimer, who once worked as an associate staff secretary for former President Barack Obama, was thrilled by the response, saying:
"I'm just happy it gave so many other people the joy it gave me."
He also used the video's popularity to try to raise some much-needed money for the less fortunate in New York.
The viral post soon caught the attention of the Backstreet Boys themselves, with their official Twitter account tweeting that they "live for moments like this."

The Internet Is Officially Obsessed With This Adorable Video Of A Dad Having A Full On Conversation With His Toddler
When it comes to the art of conversation, this toddler is a natural.
The internet gods bestowed to us a gift in the form of a video in which a father carries on a legit discourse with his infant son while watching TV.
It may sound like baby babble but as far as the dad is concerned, his inquisitive son is commenting on what unexpected turns the season finale of their mystery show might take.
People swooned over father and son reviewing their entertainment program from the couch.
The adorable exchange might have incited a baby boom.

The star of the show is baby Kingston of Clarksville, TN, whose parents are Deztin and Shanieke Pryor.
Shanieke originally posted the clip to her Facebook page where it racked up around 46 million views. Even a ripped version on Twitter posted by Devin Johnson received over three million likes.
At one point, baby Kingston really gets into the program and starts pointing at the screen.
"That's what I was wondering! I don't know what they're gonna do next season," exclaimed daddy Deztin.
The son nods in agreement to acknowledge they're both on the same page.
Then, a perplexed Kingston raises his arms in defeat, and dad responds:
"Right, that's why I'm saying! Don't bring that in, you know what I'm saying? Go somewhere else with that."
This is a full blown convo between passionate dudes.
Another user humorously drew a comparison to chatty significant others:
Just because baby talk sounds like gibberish doesn't mean they don't have anything to say.

Little Girl Is Not Having Any Of Princess Jasmine Needing Aladdin In Order To See The World In Applause-Worthy Viral Video
One of the most iconic moments in Disney's Aladdin and its various iterations (including the Broadway production and the remake) is the song "A Whole New World," sung by Aladdin and Jasmine as they soar over the world on their magic carpet.
The song starts off with Aladdin singing "I can show you the world," and little Madison Jade says that Jasmine is perfectly capable of doing that herself, thanks very much.
Here is the song from the original animated Aladdin (1992) film:
Aladdin - A Whole New World [High Quality] www.youtube.com
"I can show you the world,/ take you wonder by wonder,/ over, sideways, and under,/ on a magic carpet ride."
Well, according to one little girl who saw the movie, Jasmine doesn't need a boy to "take her to see the world."
Madison Jade, 4, had a videoed conversation with her mom about the Aladdin remake a day before going to see the film.
"Jasmine needs to go see the world by herself because Aladdin needs to just stay there and Jasmine can just go by herself," she said. "There is not enough space on the carpet" for both Aladdin and Jasmine, so Aladdin can just stay home.

Jasmine showed up in the Disney Renaissance period of the late 80s/early-to-mid 90s alongside a slew of other Disney princesses such as Ariel from The Little Mermaid, Belle from Beauty And The Beast, and Pocahontas from Pocahontas.
The princesses are often subject to feminist readings, as many of their stories are centered around men. Jasmine often ends up in a tricky middling place, as she is literally locked in the palace for most of the film, though she is opinionated and fiercely independent otherwise.

Little Madison Jade is learning a lesson about independence early.
We can't wait to hear her feedback for all future Disney films.
We've all experienced stage fright at some point in our lives.
Remember your first school play or talent show and feeling that paralysis after staring out into a sea of people with all eyes focused on you?
As kids, we demanded attention. But when we got it without asking β it was awkward, maybe even terrifying.
For one young boy who was performing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" with his two cousins, the force was with him. In this case, however, he channeled his dark side.
During a family reunion talent show in Buffalo, Wyoming, the boy went rogue and sang "The Imperial March" from the Star Wars movies. The iconic earworm was the sinister theme composed by the great John Williams and is associated with the arrival of Darth Vader.
And while the kid remained true to the song's theme, the Death Star was not the kind of star his singing companions were thinking of.
