People Break Down Some Unusual Signs That Someone Has A Very High IQ

Who is the smartest person you know?

They probably stun you, don't they, with the way their brain works? What makes them tick? It's fascinating to consider. It's smart––get it?––to surround yourself with smart people. They're the sort of people who challenge the way you think in immeasurable ways.

People told us all about the traits they've noticed in the more intelligent people they've met after Redditor SubtleMinton712 asked the online community,

"What are some unusual signs of high intelligence in a person?"

"When someone says..."

"When someone says, "I don't have enough information to have an informed opinion about the topic at hand."

Smart people know what they don't know."

"Taking their area of expertise..."

"Good analogy use. Taking their area of expertise and yours, and finding the common ground to explain something requires creativity and intelligence on a bunch of levels."

The ability to make those sorts of connections should be highly prized––that means the person is an excellent communicator.

"When people learn..."

"Curiosity, even about the banal, is a good thing. When people learn you have exciting work, such as being an airline pilot or a professional athlete, they have a lot of questions. Real smart people, on the other hand, have just as many questions for the plumber or the gravedigger."

"They're open to..."

"They're open to being corrected when wrong."

"If you have a conversation..."

"I've found the ability to focus attention on the core of something that needs to be addressed, and get right into tackling its "root causes" means I'm dealing with someone that's sharp.

If you have a conversation about an issue and it goes immediately and with very few words into how to resolve or correct the issue, that person's generally got a good brain in their head."

In layman's terms, that's just cutting through the BS. Don't you love it when you meet someone like that?

"Following the same generic rules..."

"Seriously speaking, the ability to think critically and independently. Following the sane generic rules as everyone else solely because it's the law and the societal norm is boring, robotic, and senseless."

Perhaps the best thing about our friends is that we can always rely on them.

To help us out, to give us words of comfort and wisdom when we need them, or to just be a willing pair of ears.

Even so, our friends still have a way of surprising us, as well as disappointing us from time to time.

Sometimes they'll do things that just make us groan and roll our eyes but are easily forgiven over time.

Other times, however, they might do or say something which can only be described as "f*cked up."

Potentially putting an effective end to your friendship.

When you gotta go, you go.

That should be a mantra for getting rid of the toxic people in our lives.

Not every relationship is meant to last forever.

Some people don't know how to be friends.

They are awfully good at pretending though.

Be vigilant of the signs and red flags.
