Community Helps Trans New York Woman Paint Her Whole House Rainbow After Transphobic Neighbor Chopped Her Cat In Half
*CONTENT WARNING: Contains descriptions of violence against animals*
Angelina Bouros is a trans woman living in Rosendale, NY.
The community is finding itself in the spotlight after it came together to send a message to the anonymous neighbor who mutilated and killed Angelina's cat after sending hateful transphobic messages.
They don't know who it is, so they can't handle things through the legal system. Instead, they decided to be perfectly petty and we're here for it.
They knew the cat murderer hated rainbow flags, so Angelina and her community came together and painted her entire house in bright rainbow colors.
Angelina says the harassment began in 2017 when she received the first of several threatening letters. She had recently put a pride flag up under her American flag and the letter writer was not a fan.
That letter was just the beginning. Angelina called the harassment "unrelenting" over the years, but could never have predicted how far the neighbor would go. She found out just what they were capable of in a horrifying way.
While in her garden one day she discovered the remains of her beloved cat, Rambo. To be more specific, Angelina discovered some of Rambo's remains.
The neighbor had murdered him, chopped him in half, and placed the back half of his body in her garden. If there had been any doubt about who did it, the transphobe took credit for the cruel murder.
RIP Rambo.

Police were contacted and Angelina has been working with them by reporting each incident and providing all the evidence she can. Mail has been taken for tracing, Rambo's body was examined, etc.
Rambo was murdered in the summer of 2019, but authorities have not been able to make any arrests.
Angelina took her time grieving, but it wasn't long before she decided she needed to fight back somehow. She didn't like feeling helpless and the police were handling things on their end.
She had already taken steps to make sure she was safe, but she also wanted this neighbor to know she wasn't afraid or ashamed. Angelina needed to send a message.
But how?
It was a rainbow flag that initially irritated the neighbor enough to start sending the letters. So she decided to just turn the rainbow up to full blast.
"You hate rainbows, transphobe? You're gonna get ALL the rainbow!" ~ Angelina, probably.
Angelina didn't want to just make a statement for herself, though. She wanted to speak as a community, so she invited neighbors to paint the house with her.
We don't just mean her next door neighbors.
We mean Angelina invited basically the whole neighborhood. If you're going to make a statement like this, you go big.
She created a Facebook event and put flyers up around town to let people know what she was doing and why. Painting the biggest, brightest rainbow possible was a peaceful solution that's also just a smidge petty.
So obviously people LOVED THIS IDEA.
A local hardware store got wind of the event and donated all of the paint Angelina would need to paint not just the house, but also the fence and pretty much anything else she wanted to cover in color. On the day of the event, she expected maybe 50 people counting herself and her friends.
That's not what happened.
Instead, hundreds of people showed up. They brought out grills, chairs, music and more.
The community turned it into a painting picnic party to show support for Angelina. At the end of the day, they had the house covered in color.
This has to be the prettiest proverbial "eff off" ever.

This Woman's Saga of Rescuing Her AirPod From the Subway Tracks Is an Epic Tale for the Ages
AirPods—Apple's signature wireless headphones—are super convenient.
There are no wires to get tangled, the sound is crystal clear and they feature the sleek, efficient design Apple is famous for.
They're also super expensive and super easy to lose.
New Yorker Ashley Mayer learned that the hard way when one of her AirPods fell onto the treacherous Manhattan subway tracks.
What followed was a saga for the ages.
Ashley thought all hope was lost, but the AirPod was in the same spot the next day.
Jumping onto the tracks wasn't an option.
So Mayer got resourceful.
The mission was on, with only a few hiccups.
Though the feat occurred off-camera, Mayer put a wad of duct tape at the end of the broom to retrieve the treasured AirPod.
It worked!
And though some were divided on whether she should put the subway AirPod back in her ear, she couldn't let her efforts be in vain.
Soon, Twitter showered her with congratulations.
Happy listening, Ashley. You deserve it.
You can avoid a similar fate with your AirPods with this accessory pack for under $9! Including clips, ear hooks and tethers for your AirPods, the 12 piece set is available in 4 fashion colors here.
Guy Hilariously Attempts To Bring His Ginormous Dog Onto The Subway In The Tiniest Bag
People trying to bring large dogs on the New York subway isn't a new thing.
But a recent video shared to Twitter brings a whole new level of ridiculous to the practice.
According to MTA rules:
"No person may bring any animal on or into any conveyance or facility unless enclosed in a container and carried in a manner which would not annoy other passengers."
This has led to an assortment of absurd conveyances for people's oversized pooches.
There is even an Instagram page, @BagDogs that collects photos of the "bags" that people use for their large dogs (Ikea bags seem quite popular).
There's even the odd bag cat!
Most recently, Twitter user @WillSCourtney witnessed a doozy of an attempt to ride with a huge dog in a harness-like bag made of burlap.
Unfortunately, the would-be rider was too close to the front of the train, and the conductor refused to let him board.
Courtney told Gothamist that the owner was:
"about to board the train and happened to be trying to get in the doors near the conductor's cabin, and the conductor spotted him and called him out, told him he couldn't come on the train with the dog, which is right around when I started rolling,"
This wasn't the first time the owner had tried to ride the train with his dog in the same "bag":
"I talked to the dog's owner for a little bit afterwards; he said that he'd been carrying his dog in that setup for a long time, and had never had a problem before that day."
"For what it's worth, as soon as the train pulled away, he set the dog down. It seemed very calm and content—not stressed out or anything by the ordeal or by being in the bag."
The rule that dogs must be in some sort of container seems like a good idea on the surface, but a bag or carrier doesn't prevent a badly-behaved dog from barking or otherwise behaving badly.
All it does is make well-behaved dogs have to be mildly to moderately uncomfortable just to get from point A to point B with their owners.
Uber or Lyft often aren't viable options for dog owners either, as they can be extremely expensive if you have to go any significant distance. There are quite a few drivers who will refuse to take animals, no matter how well behaved, as well.
Maybe it's time to rethink the "BagDog" policy and come up with something that works for everyone, including our four-legged friends.
Jonathan Gualpa, 19, of New York City was arrested in Rochelle Park, NJ, after allegedly stealing a taxi and making the nearly 2 hour drive there.
Gualpa was reportedly on his way to the Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey. He only made it about halfway there before deciding to stop for a nap in the stolen taxi.
NYPD were alerted to the theft of the cab, and used its built-in GPS locator to track it to where Gualpa had stopped to rest.
They informed the New Rochelle Police Department of the taxi's location and when they went to investigate they found Gualpa fast asleep in the back seat of the cab.
When questioned by police after his arrest, Gualpa revealed his plans to go to Six Flags. The biggest problem with his plan? The park isn't yet open for the season.
Six Flags Great Adventure opens for business on April 6th, and it will be an additional 3 weeks before it is open during the week.
Gualpa was almost a month too early for his plan to have succeeded at all.

Gualpa has been charged with receiving stolen property and has been released from custody, pending a court appearance and the taxi has been returned to the company it belongs to.
Six Flags Great Adventure is a pretty awesome place, and the crowds can be pretty impressive during peak times; if you're thinking of visiting maybe check the schedule before you leave, and don't steal a taxi to get you there.
Do you guys remember "balloon boy?" He and his family are my most vivid memory of a PR stunt gone wrong - and WOW it went way wrong - but probably not in the way you think.
The story most of us know is that the family faked the boy accidentally taking off in a home-made balloon when he had been hiding in the attic the whole time. They were turned into memes, there was jail time involved, and tons of fines. That all sounds pretty bad, but it turns out that story may be a PR spin in and of itself.
