People Share Which Small Good Deeds They Do To Make The World A Better Place

The world can be a rough place. If you need proof, just open up your window and scream out into the sky like everyone else should be doing, all the time, all day long. Fortunately, not everyone is doing that, because there's amazing, hardworking people out on the frontlines every day doing everything they can to keep that screaming away from us. Big to small, every little but helps the world become just that much better.

Reddit user, u/JustAnotherPyroMain, wanted to hear how you do your part when they asked:

What's a little thing you do to make the world a better place?

Start With The Smallest Thing You Can: You're Time

Recognize and thank a person for their help/efforts, no matter how small a task may seem

I found this really helpful as a bar manager at festivals! When you have crazy 14 hour shifts just telling people hey man, thanks for restocking the fridge, really goes a looooooong way 💜

That's Called "Zoning Your Area." Where All My Retail People At??

When I remove an item from a grocery store shelf, I move the same item forward to replace it. Esp top shelf items

Short people like me appreciate you!!

Please And Thank-You

Use manners. Sounds inconsequential but after working hospitality/retail the amount of people that don't use them is terrible.

Use Less, Make Less

Take care of my things. We didn't have much while growing up and my mother always believed in quality. She would buy things she knew we would use a lot. I have the same pencil case from 6th grade, I'm in grad school now. I have linen bedsheets, water bottles, fountain pens, mugs, and even some clothes that I've used for over 10 years.

This helps me consume less, inturn creating less waste. I feel like we should strive to reduce, before reusing and recycling.

It blows my mind how some people go through so much crap because they see it as disposable or it's "out of fashion".

I've had the same backpack since 2007, the same duffel bag since 2004, and the same laundry hamper basket since 2000. I also use the hamper laundry basket to put my groceries in when I go to the store so I'm not using bags, either.

I'm also in grad school and I've got ten + year old binders and the same ruler I've had since middle school.

My dad hammered it into me that you take care of your stuff. It was annoying when I was younger but once I started paying for all my own stuff I was so glad he was like that

Take Care Of The People Taking Care Of You

Giphy

I always make sure to be overly polite to people serving me, [whether] in a restaurant or a shop and I always tell them to have a good day when I leave. Having worked in retail I know a simple how are you, thank you or a have a nice day can mean a lot, especially on a bad shift. I was raised to have good manners and I'll be damned if I don't flex them at any opportunity I have. It always surprises/saddens me that other people can't be the same way.

We Like To Feel Pretty, Too

Compliment people. I saw on here that men don't get many compliments so I try to do it in as un-flirty a way as possible so it doesn't get awkward - simple stuff like "Cool shirt".

ln546

I had a friend who did this, and was talking talking one time about him, like "He's such a nice person! I wish I was like that" and then realized that it was 100% possible for me to be. I now try to do it as often as possible—I'm not great at it yet, but people's reactions/smiles make it worth it!

Basically, people like you inspire people like me to become better people. It's a beautiful world, isn't it?

You Magnificent Hero

When someone gets cut off repeatedly in conversation I make an effort to make eye contact with them and say "Go ahead... I'm listening..." or something along those lines.

Groovyjackrackham

As someone who is constantly interrupted when speaking by her closest family members... I appreciate you. There's not many people who even consider this as an option. Not being listened to sucks.

It All Adds Up In The End

I pick up a few pieces of trash each time I walk my dog. It's a very tiny thing but I like to think it adds up!

ohnomybone

I often hike ski mountains and you wouldn't believe how many beer cans, sunglasses, nip bottles, junk etc that you find under chairlifts. It's all over the mountain but I usually hike under the chairlift to collect. Makes me feel good.

Nature is beautiful and precious and people are dicks to it

Silver Magic Left Behind

I leave spare quarters in gumball machines. I like to think it makes somebody happy every once in a while.

Adults Who Still Need A Stuffed Animal To Go To Sleep Share Their Experiences

Reddit user Old-Horse1185 asked: '34 percent of adults sleep with a stuffed animal or other sentimental object. Are you one of these people? What do you sleep with?'

Stuffies, plushies, stuffed animals, or plush toys; whatever you might call them, we likely all can remember a fluffy friend we had in our childhood.

But some adults might have carried their childhood friend into adulthood, or even made others along the way, and they might even still go to sleep with them at night, too.

Working remotely from home certainly has its advantages, including not having to endure traffic and deal with coworker drama.

But many people found that during the pandemic, the isolation of working from home left little to be desired.

People who have jobs requiring them to commute every day and arrive at the workplace are given the opportunity to be social and feel like they're a part of society.

But being a part of a work environment can come with its own unique occupational hazards.

Be it desperation, self-indulgence, or simply optimism, many people never leave home without a condom.

If the chances of "getting lucky" are much more likely at some places than others, one never knows where or when they might hit it off with someone.

Including a funeral.

Bizarre and tasteless as that sounds, a recent study reportedly showed that 1 in 8 men under the age of 35 do, in fact, bring condoms with them when attending a funeral, "just in case".

Whether or not these condoms were used, however, is another story entirely.

People will trip themselves up eventually.

Because liars and lunatics always make mistakes.

They may be small mistakes, but they leave just enough room to expose their wicked ways.

Sure we all want to fight off an enemy and be the victor.

But sometimes the victor's greatest weapon is nothing but a little patience.

Then, we celebrate with a smile as we watch the crumble.

And maybe we have a little victory dance.
