Coldplay's Chris Martin Told Ellen About His Funny Idea For 'A Quiet Place'—And John Krasinski's Response Just Made It Even Better
Have you ever just had a really dumb joke you absolutely have to tell someone?
You send out the text to your friends, hoping to get a chuckle from someone but all you get is silence?
Yeah, that happens to celebrities too.
Chris Martin and Johnny Buckland were on The Ellen DeGeneres Show last week, talking about their new album.
Martin however, went off on a tangent about an idea he had for A Quiet Place.
As Martin explained, after seeing the movie A Quiet Place, he had a joke. He sent a video of himself pretending to play the piano and mouthing words to a song to Emily Blunt and her husband, John Krasinski, who directed the film.
"So, I sent Emily Blunt and her husband this idea for the musical of 'A Quiet Place' and it was just me like that,"
It was the perfect idea for A Quiet Place musical.
The only problem is Martin never heard anything back from Krasinski or Blunt.
As Martin explained:
"I thought, 'Oh no, they must have thought I was taking the Mickey.' I wasn't. I loved the film!"
DeGeneres helpfully responded:
"Well, you'll hear back from them now!"
And she ensured it. The official Twitter account for the show tweeted out the clip and tagged Krasinski in the tweet.
Difficult to ignore that.
.@JohnKrasinski, did you get this message from Chris Martin? https://t.co/2iVw0o5SNi— Ellen DeGeneres (@Ellen DeGeneres) 1579127469.0
Krasinski certainly couldn't ignore being called out like that. He manned up and responded to the video.
He also decided to throw his wife under the bus.
@TheEllenShow I... did not get an email from Chris Martin. The man is a treasure. Are you kidding me!? Emily what have you done!?!?— John Krasinski (@John Krasinski) 1579145164.0
@johnkrasinski Well, blaming Emily seems like a great strategy.— Ellen DeGeneres (@Ellen DeGeneres) 1579191157.0
It's not very fair, considering Blunt doesn't use social media and can't so readily defend herself. Low blow, Jim.
On the other hand, people are very supportive of Martin referring to the Hollywood couple as "Emily Blunt and her husband."
@steeljammn @johnkrasinski @TheEllenShow That reference was the best! Must be a Brit thing?— Karess (@Karess) 1579150481.0
We can cut Krasinski a little slack. He's been busy producing A Quiet Place 2, due for release in March of this year.
The film once again stars Emily Blunt as Evelyn Abbott as she and her family face off against deadly creatures who violently attack any sound.
The monsters aren't entirely unlike Twitter users who see a famous actor trying to blame Emily Blunt because he happened to leave Chris Martin on read.

Chris Martin and Johnny Buckland were on The Ellen DeGeneres Show to promote their new album, Everyday Life. According to Metacritic, the album has received generally favorable reviews, and debuted at #1 on the UK Albums Chart.
Dax Shepard recently went on The Ellen DeGeneres Show to celebrate his birthday.
While he was there, his wife, Kristen Bell, visited and the pair's love is so strong that it made them both cry.
Shepard sat down with Ellen to discuss his show The Ranch.
On the show, he works with his buddy, Ashton Kutcher, which he says is "about as fun as it gets".
He went on to describe the experience as "really sweet" since Kutcher kick-started Dax's career with Punk'd.
Ellen also set Dax up for a round of "Ask Dr. Dax" — a session where guests can ask Shepard relationship questions.

After discussing one woman's plight of disliking her husband's favorite sex position, his wife made a surprise appearance to ask him her own question.
Kristen Bell, currently starring on The Good Place, asked him:
"What would you recommend getting someone very special, like a spouse, for their birthday? Or how would you spoil them on their birthday?"
Shepard responded:
"In the bedroom."
After a laugh, Bell cheekily said:
"Let's say I have 'in the bedroom' covered."
She went on to give him a wink and specified she wanted "out of the bedroom" advice.
Dax's response to his wife was the sweetest imaginable.
"I would say please, please, please give that person love and support for 11 years. Give them two beautiful baby girls, and you're good."
As he listed the wonderful things his wife had given him over the years, tears came to his eyes.
Bell wasn't immune to the tears either and she called him out for his emotion saying:
"You're crying, too!
The internet is also overcome with emotion for this amazing couple.

McDonald's Just Surprised The Viral Pranksters On 'Ellen' With An Awesome Gift—And We're Lovin' It ❤️
Jevh Maravilla and Christian Toledo are names you may not know but, if you spend a decent amount of time online, you've probably seen their faces and may know their story. The pair were (are?) regulars at their local McDonald's and got tired of seeing one awkwardly blank wall every time they ate. The longer they stared, the more they realized the wall was crying out for some decor. Jevh and Christian took it upon themselves to do a photo shoot and create a fake McDonald's poster — featuring themselves, of course. The ad went up on the wall and there it sat, unnoticed, until one of the boys tweeted about it. Now Ellen and McDonald's have something to say about it.
If you're asking yourself how two teenagers managed to hang a huge poster in a busy McDonald's location without being noticed, you're not the only one. After Jevh tweeted about it, that was one of the most popular questions.
Jevh gave a simple reply on Twitter:
@stolt45 @SharonStolt i became a “Regional Interior Coordinator” https://t.co/296iWr3C8X— JΞVH M (@JΞVH M) 1535940511.0
But they gave up more information when Ellen asked. The boys created fake ID badges with fake corporate titles. They then found uniforms for sale at a charity shop, snagged walkie-talkies and ties, and then confidently waltzed right in like they belonged there.
Jevh's tweet quickly went viral quickly and caught Ellen's attention. She invited Jevh and Christian to her show so they could tell the world all about what evil geniuses they are. When Ellen asked what moved them to just go for it, the boys explained that McDonald's had been making strides in diversity within their imagery, but they still didn't see anyone who looked like them.
There was a space to be filled both on the wall and in the McDonald's diversity campaigns. So the boys filled it.
We looked around and we saw that there were all these other posters on there of people with different ethnicities, and we saw all these people having fun. So we decided to represent ourselves, as Asians, to be up there as well.
Both Ellen and McDonald's were impressed. While the boys were on the show, McDonald's surprised them each with an offer. The corporation decided to keep the poster and listen to the boys' advice about increased diversity — and they paid them each $25,000 as a sort of modeling and consulting fee.
Twitter is lovin' it!
