Films can be challenging in what they're trying to say, and if that challenge is too much to answer, don't feel bad for having to turn something off.
*The following article contains discussion of sexual assault.Reddit user, Elixir_Jx, wanted to know when a movie was just too much when they asked:
"What’s film is so brutal to watch you had to stop watching it?"
What reason would you have for stopping a movie before it finishes? The cinematography making you dizzy? The subject matter is too much for your to consider?
It'll vary, that's for sure.

There are literally millions of movies.
Within each movie, hundreds to thousands of quotes. The options for your favorite movie quotes are endless.
Of course, not all movies are created equally, so some definitely stand out more than others.
u/eoghan_mckenna_ asked:
What is the best movie quote you have ever heard? Here were some of those answers.
An Arnie Film
Barbarian General: "We won again. This is good! But what is best in life?"
Warrior: "The open steppe, fleet horse, falcons at your wrist, wind in your hair!"
General: "Wrong! Conan, what is best in life?"
Conan: "To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women!"
Barbarian General: "That is good."
The Horror Of War
"I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell? The whole hill, smelled like...victory. Someday this war's gonna end."
— Lt. Col. Bill Kilgore (Robert Duvall), Apocalypse Now
Guess This One

"No luck catching them killers then?"
"It's just the one killer actually"

"I'd ask you about love, you'd probably quote me a sonnet. But you've never looked at a woman and been totally vulnerable. Known someone that could level you with her eyes, feeling like God put an angel on earth just for you. Who could rescue you from the depths of hell. And you wouldn't know what it's like to be her angel, to have that love for her, be there forever, through anything, through cancer. And you wouldn't know about sleeping sitting up in the hospital room for two months, holding her hand, because the doctors could see in your eyes, that the terms "visiting hours" don't apply to you.
You don't know about real loss, 'cause it only occurs when you've loved something more than you love yourself. "
From the movie 'Good Will Hunting'.
The Green Mile
"I'm tired, boss. Tired of being on the road, lonely as a sparrow in the rain. I'm tired of never having me a buddy to be with to tell me where we's going to, coming from, or why. Mostly, I'm tired of people being ugly to each other. I'm tired of all the pain I feel and hear in the world...every day. There's too much of it. It's like pieces of glass in my head...all the time. Can you understand?" :'(
ADRIEEEEENNE
"You ain't gonna believe this, but you used to fit right here. (He gestures to the palm of his hand). I'd hold you up to say to your mother, 'This kid's gonna be the best kid in the world. This kid's gonna be somebody better than anybody I ever knew.' And you grew up good and wonderful. It was great just watchin' you, every day was like a privilege. Then the time come for you to be your own man and take on the world, and you did. But somewhere along the line, you changed. You stopped being you. You let people stick a finger in your face and tell you you're no good. And when things got hard, you started lookin' for something to blame, like a big shadow.
Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place, and I don't care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard you hit, it's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!
Now if you know what you're worth, then go out and get what you're worth! But you gotta be willing to take the hits. And not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain't you! You're better than that!
I'm always gonna love you no matter what. No matter what happens. You're my son and you're my blood. You're the best thing in my life. But until you start believing in yourself, you ain't gonna have a life."
– Rocky Balboa
Ash To Ash
(I'm paraphrasing the set-up a bit)
Evil Ash: You won't shoot me ... because you're good ! I'm Evil Ash and you're Good Ash ! You're a goody little two-shoes, goody little two-shoes, goody little two-shoes !
(Ash shoots Evil Ash with his shot gun )
Ash: Good ... Bad ... I'm the guy with the gun.
A Last Hurrah
When King Lear dies in act five, do you know what Shakespeare has written? He has written, 'He dies.' No more. No fanfare, no metaphor, no brilliant final words. The culmination of the most influential piece of dramatic literature is, 'He dies.' Now I am not asking you to be happy at my leaving but all I ask you to do is to turn the page and let the next story begin. -- Mr. Magorium (Mr magoriums wonder emporium)
O Captain My Captain
"We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race, and the human race is filled with passion. Medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for."
"No matter what anybody tells you, words and ideas can change the world."
"We're not laughing at you - we're laughing near you."
"There's a time for daring and there's a time for caution, and a wise man understands which is called for."
-- Mr. John keating, Dead poet's Society.
A Sign Of The Times
"It's like the great stories, Mr. Frodo, the ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were, and sometimes you didn't want to know the end because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad has happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing this shadow, even darkness must pass. A new day will come, and when the sun shines, it'll shine out the clearer. I know now folks in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn't. They kept going because they were holding on to something. That there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo, and it's worth fighting for." -Samwise Gamgee
Twitter User Gets Annihilated After Complaining That Brie Larson's Captain Marvel Wasn't Sexy Enough

Several People Got A Creepy Delivery Ahead Of The 'It: Chapter Two' Teaser Trailer Release
When the 2017 adaption of Stephen King's It was released, it quickly became a smash hit.
The movie breathed new life into the classic story, taking a different approach to the book and the 1990 miniseries. Instead of alternating between the characters as children and adults, the movie focused on the adventure of the kids only.
The film brought the chills, the scares, and most importantly, the memes:
This is somehow both hilarious and terrifying at the same time.Giphy
It's only natural that fans would be excited for the next film, which will focus on the adult story. In the two years since, the adult cast has been announced with the child actors even meeting their future selves.
Everything was in place.
Then Stephen King set the mood.

The boxes each had two red balloons filled with helium. Upon opening the box, the balloons would fly out, startling the opener.
These are a reference to the creature from the movies the kids know as Pennywise the Dancing Clown. The titular It would use these balloons to lure children, announce his presence, or inspire fear.

Someone Noticed That The Same Sad Music Plays During Several Classic Disney Films From The '60s
The Disney Animated Canon has a lot of little secrets hidden in plain sight.
Sometimes these are fun easter eggs, meant to entertain the most dedicated of fans. Other times, they probably really hope you never notice.
It's somewhat well known that in the Disney films like The Aristocats and Robin Hood, a lot of animation was reused from previous films to save money. But that wasn't the only thing reused from previous films.
Over on Twitter, user @Animated_Antic pointed out something few have really talked about.
I just noticed how all of Walt Disney Animation Studios movies released in the 1960s have the same sad theme played… https://t.co/Ggv8Ml5Qvf— Animated Antic (@Animated Antic) 1556811288.0
There is a recurring song in several Disney films. The sound of descending strings in sad scenes repeats across movies, starting with One Hundred and One Dalmatians.
It pops up again in The Sword in the Stone, during a scene where Arthur is very sad and Merlin is apologizing. The third instance is in The Jungle Book, at a time Mowgli believes Baloo to be dead.
It's the work of Disney composer, George Bruns.

This is a period of time toward the end of the Disney Silver Age, shortly before Walt Disney's death.
After his death, came the Disney Bronze Age, also known as the Disney Dark Age, a time where their animated films weren't as profitable and the company was trying to find their heading without their leader.
In all this, they leaned on some tricks to save money, which yes, included reusing animation cels and music.
@Animated_Antic Yep, another instance of this Bruns sad music. https://t.co/uDYN6e2mUp— ✏🖍🎨Animation Fanatical ✏🖍🎨 (@✏🖍🎨Animation Fanatical ✏🖍🎨) 1556813785.0
Luckily, Disney had their renaissance with the release of The Little Mermaid. But there are many who share a fondness for this older period of Disney animation.
While polls regularly have the best Disney film listed as something like The Lion King or Beauty and the Beast, or maybe they even go old school with Cinderella or Snow White, Robin Hood or Sword in the Stone do often appear higher than you might expect.
I'm not saying the music is what does it, but you can't deny how well it works.
