Staying organized and clearing life of clutter and chaos is a near impossible task. We've all tried and failed. And tried again and failed. It's the cycle of life. Some of us are gifted when it comes to making life seamless and calm and we need help from those people. Marie Kondo... please show me how to spark the joy! How can life be a little easier and more in order? I know there is a way.

Redditor u/badqualityhuman wanted those who are blessed with the organization skill to help the rest of us by asking.... Organized people of reddit, what is the best tip you can give to someone chaotic, who does not have their life under control?

NOW!

Giphy

If it's something that will take you less than a minute to do, do it now. insighttrip

To add to that. Do a little bit.

Can't clean your room?

Just take that one sock on your bed and put it in the clothes bin.

It's not a lot by itself, but over time it will add up. Rednex141

DO IT ALL

Write it down.

Write to-do lists, write a schedule, write your feelings, write goals. squadparty

I make my lists thinking of time optimization, so I would have something like:

  1. Load washing machine (Unless you're doing hand washing (?) )
  2. Brew coffee
  3. Take garbage out (While washing machine is on it, and the coffee is done/water heats up)
  4. Enjoy coffee
  5. Take care of laundry.
  6. Proft.

Keep moving, but still managing to get that cup of coffee while still making progress on the rest of the items on your list. Also, don't be too harsh if you don't DO IT ALL in a single day, just don't let it accumulate to a point where everything becomes a must do. (Like you're out of clean clothes AND the garbage collection is coming today, etc). Fanelian

DO NOT sit down....

Try not sitting down/lying down until you get something done. Just get in from work/school? Set your things down but DO NOT sit down at your couch/computer until you get X Y and Z finished. Little things can really add up, but you have to have the self discipline to do it. GonnaMakeAList

Rewards Program.

I reward myself for completing a task. Let's say I'm craving a coffee before work. I take my vitamins and get my lunch for the day prepared before I can make myself the coffee.

I stick to a loose schedule and not everything is rewarded, but I find that larger chores (any type of bathroom cleaning), usually requires a little more incentive. I kinda keep this ongoing conversation going in my head: "Wanna continue binging that awesome new show? Clean the sink and floors, then you can go back to watching." cousin_geri

Push...

Giphy

If you wait until you feel like doing it then it will never get done. Get up and push yourself. sassfire

Quick 15....

I prescribe to I-can-do-anything-for-15-minutes philosophy to get over the idea that I need to be super into doing something for me to do it. My bathroom needs to be cleaned but it seems like a huge feat, I can spend 15 minutes working on it. Usually by the time the 15 minutes are up I'm invested in the job and want to finish it. But on the days that I'm counting every minute, I get to be done and walk away. NoCureForCuriosity

Make it happen....

Do what's in front of you everyday! See something out of place? Put it away. See something dirty, clean it. Teeth hurt? Go to the dentist. Works even on people! Parents/SO trying to love you, be a part of it. Make it happen, don't step over life. hiways

Storage.

The biggest thing I'm focusing on right now is the idea of "containers." Your dresser? It's a container for your clothing. If your dresser is overflowing you have to get rid of some of your stuff until it all fits in the container. Repeat as needed for all the other areas of your life where you have too much stuff. Hey Marie....

Giphy

I personally put on a tv show like Hoarders or Marie Kondo for motivation when I need to clean. It makes me clean like there is no tomorrow looking at gross stuff. I got all of the clothes in my house organized and folded properly yesterday. Thanks Marie! pip1022

One episode of "Hoarders" and I'm up and running with a trash bag and vacuum. There have been a couple of episodes of that show that made me viscerally ill. And I fought against the Marie Kondo method but finally succumbed. She knows what's she's doing. I like what she says about not feeling guilty about getting rid of things you don't wear --just thank them and let them go. Flahdagal

So Good....

Giphy

Make a list of crap you need to do and if something costs less than ten minutes do it immediately and when you do something on the list cross that mess off because that feels so good. diatomicsoda

We're all well aware of the weird, horrible, predatory things men do when attracted to women. But what about when women are the culprits?

We've all heard how parenting is a full-time job. So it's not surprising to learn that parents have discovered plenty of quirks and methods to make things just a little bit more efficient during that eternal slog.

Stupid is as stupid does. And it’s pretty obvious when some poor, misinformed, potentially ignorant soul needs to be put in their place. Luckily, there are a lot of witty ways to do just that. We love a good euphemism.

Wanna know the best way to call out stupidity when you see it? Stay tuned.

U/lientubay asked: What's the best euphemism for telling people that they're stupid?

Get a load of these sick burns. I swear, the people of Reddit are harsh.

Call outs are a universal language.

In Russian we have "intelligent thoughts have always followed him, but he was faster".

Humphr1es

We have something similar in German: "Intelligence is chasing you, but you are faster."

Tatsukishi

Be your own Easter Bunny.

Looney Tunes Cartoon GIF Giphy

You could hide your own Easter eggs.

Bdiz78

The great Harvey Korman had some Alzheimer's @ 2005, and he still went on a talk show. They asked him how he was doing and he said he was OK. "Now I can hide my own Easter eggs." RIP.

Gas-Blaster

That’s cold.

“At this point, you can only impress me."

Roman_Suicide_Note

This reminds me of something I saw in a show recently. One character said "Would you think less of me if ____." The other character said "I could never think less of you."

Catty_wampus

I lol’d.

I think I saw this one here previously "You aren't the biggest idiot in the world but you better hope they don't die".

Soalindie

Once told this to my brother, his immediate response was "hey, please don't die".

Srakrn

It takes a very intelligent person to properly call out a dumb person. Weird how that works, huh?

When the bears are smarter than the tourists.

Now I know what Douglas Adams was talking about.

"A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools."

BerenTheBold

As the park rangers in Yellowstone say- making a bear-proof trash can is very difficult due to the considerable overlap between the smartest bears and the dumbest tourists.

Lahmmom

That’s a gross mental image.

In Greece we say "when it was raining brains, you had an umbrella".

GSavvage

In German we ask God for help. "God, let there be raining brains" this sounds so weird but idk how to express it better lol.

Edit: In German it's "Gott, lass Hirn regnen".

Foxpawdot

It’s probably a bad sign when your lawyer calls you dumb.

Lawyer to client who shared detailed attorney-client privileged strategy memorandum with a whole bunch of people, including an adverse party:

Client: "Is there anything you can do to fix this?"

Attorney: "No, you've pretty much waived the privilege and now they know everything."

Client: "Is there anyway to put a positive spin on this?"

Attorney: "Well, I suppose the judge might buy that this proves that you lack the mental capacity to form specific intent."

Malibulobo

These next ones are just plain cold, but probably very much deserved.

Meanness from a Canadian is probably well-earned.

On a Canadian jobsite

Ahh Terry, having you around is like losing three good men.

StrykerSeven

Oof, that’s harsh.

He's so far behind he thinks he's first.

Perstn

I had a keychain as a kid that said, "She who laughs last thinks slowest.”

KatieSedai

Those are some gross socks.

Once heard someone say "Well he's about as sharp as a sock full of soup".

Angrypunishment

"Sharp as a marshmallow" was one that went around my friend circle.

Rubywolf27

In the words of the great prophets Smash Mouth, “I ain’t the sharpest tool in the shed”. That self-burn is perhaps one of the most classic euphemisms. And I just almost misspelled “euphemism”. So I can definitely relate to that lyric.

A good way to exercise your brain? Keep thinking of creative ways to insult people. Trust me, it works like a charm
