Honest People Reveal The Most Depressing Truths They Had To Swallow
[rebelmouse-image 18351051 is_animated_gif=Facing the truth about life is the hardest truth of all. It's never going to go the way you planned or hoped or prayed for. People are going to disappoint you and you're even going to disappoint yourself. The moments we realize this are some of the most depressing moments we live through but you can always find the strength and silver lining in the acceptance.
Redditor _u/haseo8998 pondered the thought, what is the most depressing truth that you've had to accept? The list is endless.
TIME FLIES...
Elderly people really once were the same excited child I was not all that long ago. Same with dead people.
THE COMPANY MAN...
[rebelmouse-image 18351052 is_animated_gif=Loyalty to a company means nothing to the company.
LIFE CAN BE CRUEL...
[rebelmouse-image 18351053 is_animated_gif=That I'll be in a wheelchair for the rest of my life.
GO WITHT THE FLOW...
[rebelmouse-image 18351054 is_animated_gif=Hey, as someone who uses a cane and probably will 'graduate' to using a wheelchair sooner or later: it's ok. Whatever mobility aid you use is there to help you, to make your life better. It helps you eg. get around, have an independent life (or more of one than you would without it), experience less pain/discomfort/etc. Glasses work on the same principle of making your life better when you need them and use them! I know it can take a while to accept you need this/any mobility aid, but it's a good thing, I promise.
TRUE LOVE... OR NOT...
[rebelmouse-image 18350063 is_animated_gif=Just because you think someone is "the one," doesn't mean they think you are.
CRAP...
[rebelmouse-image 18978409 is_animated_gif=Life will never be fair. You can do the right thing for your entire life and still get crap on around every corner.
PEOPLE ARE WHO THEY ARE...
[rebelmouse-image 18978410 is_animated_gif=There are people in this world who are going to live ruined, miserable lives they don't deserve, and there is really nothing I can do about it.
THE BEST YEARS...
[rebelmouse-image 18978411 is_animated_gif=I peaked in high school, or maybe early college at best.
BEWARE!!
[rebelmouse-image 18978412 is_animated_gif=That some people do not care if they screw your life over. They're too sociopathic to feel remorse or care about the consequences, or they'll gladly do anything for a quick laugh.
YOU YOU CAN....
[rebelmouse-image 18978413 is_animated_gif=I thought I could be happy being alone.
PEACE OUT!
[rebelmouse-image 18352697 is_animated_gif=Sometimes old friends don't want to reconnect.
NO SOCIAL MEDIA...
[rebelmouse-image 18978414 is_animated_gif=Facebook is the forum where you wonder why you weren't friends with someone, and then you realize why you weren't friends with someone.
NOT ALWAYS FOREVER...
[rebelmouse-image 18978415 is_animated_gif=My wife is not happy with the way our life is together and one day she will have to leave.
WE LIKE YOU!
[rebelmouse-image 18978416 is_animated_gif=That I am probably no one's favorite person.
IT STARTS IN THE MIRROR...
[rebelmouse-image 18978417 is_animated_gif=I am everything that is wrong with me. Any and all dissatisfaction I have with my life stems from my consistent inability to change it. I could be doing better in college, go to the gym more, network more, read more, etc etc and the only thing holding me back is that I have no motivation. I don't care enough about myself to do anything.
LIFE AND DEATH...
[rebelmouse-image 18978418 is_animated_gif=That death is forever and life isn't fair. Like clearly I know that and everyone knows that, but I had a cousin who was literally the salt of the earth, give you the shirt off his back guy. He was an paramedic, always helping people. He looked after his mum his whole life. He lived with her, took care of her, did absolutely everything for her. She died last Christmas at 92. It was a blessing in disguise, she had had a few strokes and ended up in a home and she said that she did not want to keep living like that. She also had been diagnosed with Huntington's, and so had my cousin.
Fast forward to Easter this year, my cousin was heading from his house to his sisters (like a 20 min drive away) and had a head on collision with another car. Other guy walked away, but my cousin took the brunt. They turned off life support the next day. It was so bad they had a cloth over his face when he was on life support so family didn't see how bad his face was. We thought when his mum died that he would get to live life for himself kinda thing, but he got four months of life before it was stolen from him. Yet you have murderers, terrorists and scumbags who live until they are 100. I still can't believe I will never see him again. RIP cousin xox
OUCH...
[rebelmouse-image 18352537 is_animated_gif=My chronic pain will be with me 'til the end.
PARENTS AREN'T ALWAYS THE BEST...
[rebelmouse-image 18345887 is_animated_gif=Growing up I was abandoned by my dad, neglected by my mom. Knowing this, my mom still treated me like a maid. I ran away, worked several jobs just to graduate, always went hungry, wrote my thesis by hand, was always alone when I got severely sick, etc.
People would always tell me that all the suffering is just the world preparing me for something greater. Life will have so much goodness in store for me because of how much I've suffered. That's not necessarily true.
Sometimes bad people will continue to have comfortable lives and good people will continue to suffer.
SUMMER LOVIN'...
[rebelmouse-image 18978419 is_animated_gif=Summer vacation is over for me. Forever. I still have that feeling this time of year that I'm due three months off. Where every day is a long day outside doing what I want to do, drinking out of hose spigots and dancing in sprinklers. Until it starts to get dark and you know you should head home for dinner but you play. Just. One. More. Game. Then your mom calls you in and you head home before the orange sky turns purple then black. And the crickets and frogs sing louder and louder.
Now I work, I'm not a teacher, and I won't have any of that again until I retire. And when I retire I doubt it will mean the same thing to me without the nine months of school/work preceding summertime. Plus: old.
People Are Roasting Trump Over His Mind-Numbing Observation About The Wetness Of Water 😂
Donald Trump thanked the first responders who came to the aid of victims of Hurricane Florence. The storm devastated portions of North Carolina, dumping massive amounts of rain and damaging millions of dollars in property. Many natural areas were destroyed, some farmers lost everything and more than a few people have been left homeless. The first responders after this massive storm were literal life savers, and Trump was absolutely right to thank them. Unfortunately, the sentiment of his message was lost for many people because he didn't seem to put any effort or preparation into what he was saying. Then, in the middle of his off-the-cuff message, he confused everyone by talking about the wetness of water.
As Trump described the storm and the importance of first responders he told the world:
This is a tough hurricane, one of the wettest we've ever seen from the standpoint of water. Rarely have we had an experience like it and it certainly is not good.
The Tweet went out in the middle of the day on Tuesday, September 18th. At the time of this article, it hasn't even been up for 24 hours and already has over 13,000 comments. Many of them pointed out how Trump didn't even seem to try...
and how asinine his description was.
We don't know if Trump will continue to address the public by releasing these kinds of videos, or if they will continue to be as unrehearsed as this one is. We assure you, if they are, Twitter will have plenty to say about it.

Macaulay Culkin Is Having Fans Vote On What He Should Legally Change His Name To—And The Options Are Bizarre 😮
Have you ever wanted to help your favorite celebrity reach their potential by giving them a new name? Fans of Macaulay Culkin will be able to do just that, as he's allowing them to vote and pick his new middle name.
The choices are beyond strange.
Thanks for having me @jimmyfallon @FallonTonight !!! I'll let you know how the name change works out! https://t.co/iIkTC8OyXH— Macaulay Culkin (@Macaulay Culkin) 1543452222.0
In a segment on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Culkin announced his desire to change his middle name to something else. He allowed people to submit names for the last month, and narrowed those down to the top five.
Some of the suggestions were interesting, to say the least.

The official choices: Shark Week, The McRib Is Back, Kieran (submitted by his famous younger brother), Macaulay Culkin, and Publicity Stunt. That last one was suggested by Culkin's girlfriend, actress Brenda Song, and gives away the game.
Fans are still excited to vote for his new name.

This is all a publicity stunt to drive traffic to Culkin's website, Bunny Ears, launched earlier this year in March. The site bills itself as a lifestyle and holistic health brand, similar to Gwyneth Paltrow's Goop. However, the articles are jokes or satirical.
Good luck finding the site if you tried to go there right after the Fallon segment.

With articles like "A Tour Guide Of The Places Where Men Have Dumped Me" in their 'Travel Guides' section, or "Meditative Things White People Can Do While Black People Attempt To Explain White Privilege" under 'Spiritual Wellness,' it's difficult to imagine the site is wanting for traffic.
Time will tell what Culkin's new middle name will be, but as of this writing, it's looking like he'll be known as Macaulay Macaulay Culkin Culkin. Which is a shame, because Macaulay Shark Week Culkin had such a nice ring to it.

Time-Lapse Video Shows What A Rocket Launch Looks Like From Outer Space—And It's Dazzling 😮
We've all seen videos of rockets launching from the ground, but what does the event look like from space?
European Astronaut Alexander Gerst, on board the International Space Station, managed to capture time-lapse footage of the Russian Progress MS-10 cargo spacecraft flying through Earth's atmosphere on its way to delivering supplies to ISS.
Very few people will ever have the chance to see an event like this in person.
Russian Rocket Launch Seen by Space Station - Amazing Time-Lapse Videoyoutu.be
Gerst created the video by setting up a camera to take regular photos through the wrap-around Cupola window of the station, which resulted in a video roughly 16 times faster than real life. Watching the rocket launch in person took 16 minutes but, in Gerst's video, the launch, stage one re-entry, and escape from the atmosphere all occur within one minute.
@_TheSeaning @Space_Station That's awesome!— Scott Waby (@Scott Waby) 1542898886.0
The rocket in the video, known as Progress 71, was on its way to delivering 5,652 pounds of supplies to ISS. The next flight, pushed back to December 3 after a sensor malfunction resulted in the cancellation of an October 11 liftoff, will bring replacement personnel for NASA astronaut Serena Auñón-Chancellor and Russian cosmonaut Sergey Prokopyev. Arkansas High School Suspends Student Paper For Publishing 'Disruptive' Investigation Into Shady Football Transfers
Halle Roberts is the editor-in-chief of the Har-Ber Herald, the school newspaper for Springdale High School in Arkansas. The 17-year-old student was suspended after she wrote an investigative piece criticizing the transfer of five football players to a rival school.
Players are not allowed to be transferred to a different school because they would like to play for a different team. They are allowed to transfer only for academic reasons. So Roberts got to digging. Her paper filed FOIA requests and received official information from the Arkansas Activities Association saying that the students were transferred for academic reasons. However, the students themselves said otherwise.
Roberts quoted one student in her paper saying:
"We just want to go over there because we have a better chance of getting scholarships and playing at D1."
Another student told Roberts:
"I just feel like it's better for my future to go out there and get college looks."
Soon after the report was published, the superintendent of the district, Jim Rollins, asked the teacher advisor for the school paper, Karla Sprague, to take the story down. She obliged.
Rollins wrote a letter stating that the piece was:
"intentionally negative, demeaning, derogatory, hurtful and potentially harmful to the students addressed in those articles."
Roberts, undeterred, is still working on a new edition of the story that includes the school's censorship.
Mike Hiestand of the Student Press Law Center had this to say:
