There's no denying that men have it easier than women do in just about everything.
With this in mind, it's hard not to join in with those who judge men who display stereotypical, chauvinistic behavior.
However, some would argue, or more specifically some MEN would argue, that they are judged for too many things.
And indeed, everyone would agree that far too many men are judged for displaying behavior that doesn't exactly scream "masculinity."

Roux Rules
Gumbo.
My mom made the absolute best gumbo and I've spent the last 10 years trying to get it right because she never wrote down the recipe for me before she died despite me practically begging her to do so.
God I miss her (and her gumbo!)
I make a pretty damn good gumbo, and the biggest "trick" is to get the roux dark dark dark.
Cook it as long as you think it needs, then keep going until you want to give up and amputate an arm.
Then keep going.
When it looks almost inedible and has a slight popcorn smell, keep going. It'll then get smooth, creamy, and look like chocolate.
That's when it's ready.
And scoop off the excess fat as the gumbo cooks. That extra fat doesn't add the flavor you think it would.
Edit to add: if your roux smells like actual popcorn (not just a slight hint of it), it's burnt and will not taste good in your gumbo.

My grandpa made the best gumbo in the world (sorry, everyone else in this thread). He died 2 weeks ago from COVID.
I couldn't travel to his memorial, so I decided to try my hand at making gumbo and I studied countless recipes. I worked so damn hard on that roux. It got this delicious nutty smell, so I decided to put the trinity in.
MAH. GAWD.
I ain't never smelled anything so wonderful in my life. And it was immediate! I was very surprised. I still have a long way to go until I'm as good as Big Dad though.

My mom's lasagna was the best too! She would make homemade spaghetti sauce, from fresh tomatoes + cans of tomato paste, then cook the meatballs in the sauce, scooping the grease off the top over the course of the day. She would also parboil italian sausage. When the sausage and meatballs were cooked she would slice them into 1/2 inch pieces. Then she would make the lasagna with alternating layers of sausage, meatballs and ricotta cheese. All of us kids always requested this for our birthday dinner!
My mom used to make a "10 lasagna" 5 meats 5 cheeses and home made sauce. She even had to buy a special deep dish pan to make it

You think you like perogies and then you have a homemade one and suddenly you can hear colours.
My ex wife and her family were polish. The pierogies she made were the best thing I've ever had.

Nobuo Fujita was a Japanese pilot in World War Two. He was the only Axis solider to drop a bomb on the continental United States. He visited the town of Brookings Oregon after the war with the intention of committing Seppuku to atone for his violence. Instead the town befriended him and he even sponsored three students from the town to study abroad in Japan. He donated his families sword to the town and even help to raise funds to build a library in the town. He was made an honorary member of Brookings before his death.

During the 9/11 attacks the tunnels and bridges were shut down leaving boats to be the only way on or off the island for the first time in over 100 years. Many of the ferry boats were trying to evacuate lower Manhattan and at one point the coast guard realized that the evacuation needed to get better organized and so they put out the call for any boats that want to help with the evacuation to report to governors island, the response was hundreds of boats, ranging from tug boats, party boats, yachts, speed boats, etc., lining the horizon and showing up to help.
It became the largest Sea Evacuation in history, the only one to come close was the evacuation of Dunkirk during WW2. When US airspace was grounded on 9/11, 2001, planes coming from across the Atlantic that couldn't turn around were re-routed to airports all across Canada. Air Traffic controllers went into hulk mode in the tiny town of Gander, Newfoundland to suddenly take in 38 wide body planes at its airport carrying 6-7 thousand passengers from over 100 countries, and the people of that town and surrounding fishing villages were like "no big deal we got you" (as Canada does) and set to task.
The town's bus drivers were currently on strike but they put down their signs and started carting passengers to community centers, schools, and churches where residents were working non-stop setting up shelters and making meals, many also hosting strangers in their homes. The bakeries fired up the ovens, the hospital beefed up it's staff, hell people even took care of 17 dogs and cats and 2 GREAT APES that were on the planes.
Town pharmacists got to work helping people get essential medication.
The people of the town even took it upon themselves to treat the guests as tourists and took many of them sightseeing and fishing, etc, because CANADIANS. Many of them became great friends and still keep in touch.

After several days at sea, the Churchill received a request from the Lutjens, departing Plymouth. They wanted to pass by close on the port side to say good-bye.
As the German destroyer came close, it became apparent the German crew were manning the rails in dress blues. A traditional naval honor.

They found both sides stopped shooting and the medics forced every to leave their guns outside and one of them forced a German Officer ether a major or Colonel to leave his gun and his men's guns outside.

I know everybody has already mentioned this (and will mention this), but the Christmas Day ceasefire during WWI. Not only did they stop fighting altogether, but they got out into No Man's Land, played footy all day, and then had supper together, shared stories, broke bread, so on and so forth.
This moment in history is so bittersweet, however, because then on Boxing Day, they got back into their trenches and went back to killing these temporary friends they made because men of higher authority a world away told them to. Extremely wholesome, but extremely sad as well as WWI was a definitive turning point in modern history which began the doctrine of "forever war."
Also, Castle Itter. Tl;dr, in the closing days of the war in Europe, a Yugoslavian prisoner broke out of a German prison camp, sought out the Allies, and along with a defected German bird, the American army, anti-Nazi German indentured soldiers, and a whole bunch of other POWs, they stormed Castle Itter, killed a grip of Nazis, and fought as a single unit under one idealogy - to stop the Third Reich.
Not traditionally wholesome, but beautiful nonetheless that when there were no more punishments for breaking rank, men of countless creeds fought together to take down the German machine. A lot of Americans died, as well as the Yugoslavian, and the German bird. I think it is tragically beautiful that all of these different kinds of men from different cultures and identities fought together - and died together - all in the name of liberation in Europe. Makes you think of the LoTR meme.
The Canine Love Story

For me it would be the earliest example of the canine-human relationship. A dog was found buried next to two humans around 15000 years ago and there's the cave with footprints of a child and a dog walking side by side and clearly entering and exiting the cave together.
The domestication of dogs goes way back further than we could imagine, they have always been by our side!

No, they did not come back with a friend, rather an Austrian Liason officer who accompanied them back to Liechtenstein, as they had been sent out to watch the Italian border with the Austrian Empire, as Italy was allied to Prussia who Austria was losing a war with, and Liechtenstein as an Austrian ally sent these men to make sure there was no surprise Italian assault.
The Austrian officer went back to the empire once the 80 men of Liechtenstein were back in their borders.

I like the one from Charles II of England. Known as the Merry Monarch, he loved women and had many mistresses. His favorite was a woman called Nell Gwyn; an actress and seller of confectionary oranges, at a local theatre. He even had a tunnel built from under the theatre to an inn across the road for half time entertainment.
On his death bed he asked his brother to take care of all his mistresses and said of Nell "Let not poor Nelly starve."
She was given a huge pension. He just really cared about the wellbeing of all his mistresses and illegitimate offspring, and especially of Nell who wasn't even of noble birth, which was kind of unusual for the day, and for a king. I just like it because he truly took care of the women in his life, even when it would have been more usual and perfectly acceptable for him not to give a crap about them at all.

GiphyI teach middle school. I'm always available by email, but once a week, I use our school's conferencing tool to review material and directly answer questions - like virtual office hours. I have a couple of classes where no one shows up, and that's fine. I don't require it.
One day, I had over half of one class show up. We reviewed the lesson, and I said that if they didn't have questions, they could leave. A few minutes went by, and they were all just working away in near silence.
I reminded them they could leave. Someone goes, "I know, but I miss being in class, and this is as close as I can get."
Many of them felt isolated and were extremely bored. I left the chat up for the rest of the allotted time to let them catch up and work on other homework together. They really miss each other.
I really hope we're able to go back in the fall. I miss them, and I'm supposed to have that group again next year. MissDaywalker

This is so hard. It's all I do now other than eat and sleep (and sometimes can't even do that), and everyone seems miserable.
My students are all kinds of dissatisfied, some want to be able to do things on their own time, they want recordings, practice problems, etc., and can't be bothered to show up to classes during designated times. Others demand video classes and for things to be like they were before.
It's hard for me to have video classes or record demos/lectures because we live in a tiny apartment and I have very little privacy, this is much more stressful than I would have expected.
I am changing the syllabus every week to keep up with the demands of the students who can't make the old deadlines and because I can't cover the same material the same way.
My family is being neglected, and they are miserable. I haven't been able to get to any of my research and my collaborators are annoyed. I guess, everyone is on edge these days anyway, but this definitely feels like a lose-lose-lose situation.
I feel like everyone is mad at me, including myself.

A kid emailed me that he was gonna be late handing in his assignment cause a family member died.
I just responded in a human way, said sorry, told him not to worry and hand it in when ready, etc. Talked a little bit about the family member (I can't remember who now which feels shitty but it was long ago).
Anyways, didn't feel like anything special just like what you should do.
But at the final exam which they did have to show up for in person, the kid came up to me after, I'd never seen him before. Handed his paper in and then gave me the biggest bear hug ever. Then told me it meant a lot that we talked then.

In 2020....
I teach history at a community college. Most people who take history don't actually care about it, but some are engaged. When I give lectures, I try to relate history to real world examples people might face in 2020 to comprehend the material better.
I've had numerous students, some who were good when we were in class and others who weren't as engaged, leave comments about missing going to class and that my explanations of events helped them understand things better.
If anything, online classes have made me realize that I can assign readings and give PowerPoints, but a lot of meaningful comprehension comes with how I explain things.
I've only been teaching a year, but it's nice to think I'm doing something right. OkayestHistorian

According to the animal training people at San Diego Zoo,
"Cheetahs are quite shy instinctively, and you can't breed that out of them. When you pair them with a dog, the cheetah looks to the dog for cues and learns to model their behavior. It's about getting them to read that calm, happy-go-lucky vibe from the dog."
So zoos and rescue/rehab facilities are out there adopting dogs to bring home to the cheetahs, not as snacks, but just to be homies. It's adorable fluffy wholesomeness that looks like this.

In Germany, they have these "frog fences". These fences keep the frogs from crossing the roads and getting run over. At the end of the day somebody comes by and gathers the frogs and helps them cross the road.

This is probably one of my favourite feel good facts. Not only did Canada liberate the Netherlands but when the royal family was being hosted in Canada during exile, the government declared the maternity ward extraterritorial so that princess Margaret's citizenship would be solely Dutch when she was born on Canadian soil. <sniffle>
Overload
You know when babies are smiling and laughing, but then they suddenly turn away? They're having a happiness overload! Basically their brains can't handle all the excitement they're experiencing by what they see, so the only remedy is to just not look anymore.

Libraries
The fact that libraries exist at all is the most wholesome fact I know.
There's a place in your town, probably in a nice building or on a bit of prime real estate, that is given over to the idea of providing as much entertainment or education as you could possibly want, free at the point of use, paid for by the people and for the people as a collective space for the enjoyment of everyone, rich or poor. Pretty much every country in the world has them. The only thing you need in order to be able to make use of this service is to bring the items back in a timely manner so other people can enjoy them -- and people actually do it!
Libraries are as close to the definition of a public good in every sense of the word as I can possibly find.
Just Call For Help
In New Zealand, if you need to call the Emergency Services you can just ring the number you would use in your own country and you will get through... 911/111/999... it is so that in a situation when you are panicking, you don't need to remember a new number to get help.
Baby Babbling
Children who are deaf, and raised by deaf parents will sign repetitive sounds and words at about the same rate hearing babies acquire language. Deaf babies basically sign goo-goo ga-ga the same way hearing children babble when developing language.

Why Saran Wrap Sucks
In this era of evil corporate overlords let's remember Saran Wrap. Have you noticed that Saran Wrap kinda sucks these days? It seems like it barely sticks like it used to and doesn't preserve food as long. You might think this was due to cost cutting measures to line investor and executive pockets, that's the usual reason products go to crap.
The actual reason is that the key chemical used in its manufacture was determined to be bad environmentally. They were unable to find a replacement that provided the same performance. There were no regulations requiring them to change the formula and changing it would surely hurt their market share. They did it anyway without any fanfare and it was a big hit to their bottom line, but they stuck to it because it was the right thing to do.-

Petting You Back
You know that thing dogs do sometimes when you're petting them and they uncoordinatedly smack their paws on you?
They do that because they are trying to return the affection you are giving them! They know you show love by petting them, and they want to make sure you know they feel the same.
Essentially it's their way of petting you back!
Kindred Spirits
There is a tribute sculpture of silver feathers in County Cork, Ireland called "Kindred Spirits".
It commemorates the 1847 donation of $170 (about $4,700 in 2019 dollars) by the Native American Choctaw People to Irish famine relief during the Great Hunger, despite the Choctaw themselves living in hardship and poverty and having recently endured the Trail of Tears.
I love this fact because I'm from Cork in Ireland ☘
