Everyone wants to live healthily.
Right?
But "healthy" seems to have a lot of meanings.
Many of the things we deem healthy and healing are often messy and problematic.
So it's time to make some changes.
And really do the research.
Redditor cheerfulspinach wanted to discuss the truth about being cleansed... so they asked:
"What is something people think is a 'healthy option' but actually isn't?"
We all need to research more to define 'healthy.'"
Sneaky, sneaky...

Cleanse Crap
"Those stupid juicing detox programs... your body's liver and kidney's naturally detox your body so long as you drink plenty of water. This whole notion that you are detoxing your body with juice is a*inine."
fihiv13853
"The financial director of the WORST place I've ever worked decided to go onto a juice detox. Each tiny bottle was like £5 (this is back in 2016) and his diet was literally 5 of those bottles a day."
"However during work he would get agitated and lacking energy so he'd 'top up' with haribo throughout the day to make sure he didn't collapse. Very freaking healthy."

75 pounds in a year...
"I had a friend in college who believed sub sandwiches were healthy. Like... not specific ones. The Subway health based commercials made her think that anything served in sub form was healthy. She was eating footlong white bread covered in cheese with double bacon and ham sandwiches with extra cheese, extra mayo, extra oil or ranch and whatever else she wanted on them or chicken bacon ranch subs with double cheese and double bacon. Devouring them 2-3 times a day to lose weight."
"She hadn't told anyone she was trying to lose weight but after she gained 75 pounds in a year, some of her friends started asking why she ate so many unhealthy sandwiches every day. Her mind was blown when we told her that sub sandwiches aren't magically healthy just because of the form factor."

Bad Rep
"Smoothies from smoothie shops They use sorbets, ice creams, and juices with an insane amount of sugar in them. My sister worked at a smoothie shop, and people would always come in after going to the gym. It’s not what most people think it is."
wekig10581
"Depends on the smoothie but yes most of those mainstream chains are like that."

Options
"'Low-fat' or 'fat-free' options. These products often have added sugars and other unhealthy additives to compensate for the lack of fat. In some cases, these options may actually be worse for you than the full-fat versions."
Appropriate-Land9451
"And not to mention they STILL taste worse than the full fat versions. Lowfat yogurt is the bane of my existence."

"Vaginal washes on a daily basis so it smells like lavender instead of what vaginas are supposed to smell like. It's unnecessary and changes your pH down there and pre disposes you to infections."

Take a Brake
"I think a lot of Millennials and Gen Zers are beginning to catch on to how bad it can potentially be, but I think dedicating your life just to work is really unhealthy. I mean fair enough if you have a job you really enjoy, but even so if you dedicate almost every waking moment to your job there's a problem generally. Its not a great attitude, live to work."
sopica8678
Buying into the system...
"Toxic positivity. The people who tell you that you need to love yourself regardless of whatever debilitating disability or mental condition you have that makes doing so near impossible Or the people who, whenever you try to reach out, immediately try to downplay your problems (you don’t hate your body, society just MAKES you buy more products/your not depressed, society sucks)."
"People who try to take what you say about yourself and twist it beyond recognition into some pseudo-'woke‘ actually society is the problem’ bulls**t and passively blame you for not waking up farting rainbows because actually everything you’ve ever disliked about yourself was created by 3 white dudes 200 years ago therefore making any doubt you have just ‘buying into the system.'"

Muffins
"Honestly, a lot of whether or not something is healthy or unhealthy (especially in the context of weight loss) depends on the specific person."
"For example, I have to avoid eating nuts as a snack because they're extremely calorie dense while not being at all filling to me and hence I can overeat them really easily without thinking about them without any benefits of affecting my hunger level."
"But for someone who doesn't have my issue with snacking foods, a handful of nuts as a snack would absolutely be a great part of a balanced diet."
"On a more general level though, muffins. Most muffins you can buy are basically cupcakes but people treat muffins like a diet food."

There are jobs that our psyche can't deal with for very long.
Sometimes you take a job because you like to eat.
You want a place to live.
Sure, it may not be in the wheelhouse of your educational degree... but you have to eat.
But everyone does begin to reach the point of... I'm over it.
Redditor indian_boy786 asked everyone about jobs that cause more stress than they're worth by asking:
"What is your 'I don't get paid enough for this sh*t moment?"
I've left places after fights.
I'm not having this face marred by violence at minimum wage rates.

"I worked for a small college. The president's secretary thought that most things were above her pay grade and at one of the busiest times of the year for my office decided that I should put in 80+ hours to clean her data and get something she needed done."
"After getting it finished she decided that she wanted the whole thing changed. I broke down. I went to the doctor in the midst of a full blown panic attack and was given a note for two weeks off work, which meant they had to use what I did or do it themselves. I came back to work and resigned."

Poo Time

"This one case that is seared into my mind was when I was once fixing up the salad bar and I heard ‘Billy Run!’ screamed from an ignorant parent and then I see this 12ish year old boy running to the bathroom, only he didn’t make it."
"An unholy amount of undigested red Jello-O came exploded out of him like a f**king volcano all over the Caesar Salad, the floor next to the cash register, and on about 5 or 6 diners waiting in line to get in. It looked like he had literally vomited his guts out in an arc about 10 feet in diameter. I had to sweep up the chunks with a broom until a dishwasher with a mop could take care of the rest."

We as humans seem to worship at the altars of many.
Religion is religion.
There is a history and a purpose behind it.
Have we gotten out of hand with treating other aspects of life in a Godlike manner?
It's all too serious sometimes.
Redditor KayoshiStoryteller wanted to discuss the things people worship on another level.
So they asked:
"What is not a religion, but people treat it with the same attention?"
The Beyhive. They can be a bit much. But I also see Beyoncé as a religion.

Oh the things we worship.
Some people have to go.
We are in a place in life where calling out a person is the key.
People don't get to act a certain way just because.
We are withered to the bone with many types of personalities.
And it is time to free ourselves.
Satan be gone!!
Redditor moosesanddave wanted everyone to divulge truths about those that we are just about over having in our lives. They asked:
"Which types of people are you sick of?"
Letting go of people is hard. But the older I get, the better it feels.

Let's call her Karen...
"I had a friend like this (let's call her Karen). Super mentally unstable, expected me to come over and listen to her crap at the drop of a hat. The time that truly stands out to me was when I was in the ER with my girlfriend because she'd had a fall and while I'm sitting in the ER, I get a text from Karen asking me to come over because she was needing to have a chat. I tell her I'm in the ER and obviously can't come and her exact words were "all I want is a friend here and you can't even do that for me?"
"I obviously don't reply because f**k that noise. An hour later she sends another text apologizing and saying how she's become "numb to the idea of being in the ER because she has been in there so many times". She eventually removed herself from my life. Good f**king riddance."

Never miss another big, odd, funny or heartbreaking moment again.
Be it Law & Order, FBI, or CSI, or the work of James Patterson, countless people are simply addicted to crime themed TV shows, movies and books.
Others, however, are more fascinated by the real thing.
Be it scripted series, documentary style or podcast, many people are fascinated by true crimes, and can't learn enough about some of these cases.
But on some occasions, the crimes in question might simply be too gruesome, dramatic or heartbreaking to handle, resulting in even the most dedicated crime aficionados to take a step back.

What might make reading the work of James Patterson and others easy for some people to read is the fact that they know it's fiction, perhaps loosely inspired by actual events.
But learning more and more about horrific crimes which actually happened and could happen again is enough to permanently ruin any chances of sleeping.
