People Divulge Which Things Some Folks Fervently Defend That Don't Seem Worth Their Time
Why do we keep standing for things that have proven unworthy?
We as humans are gluttons for punishment sure, but there should be a learning curve by now.
Some aspects of life are just not worthy of our time and energy.
Or some people.
Redditor hippolyte_pixii wanted to hear about what many of us are wasting life on by championing the obsolete.
"What do people defend so fervently that you can tell they know it actually sucks?"
Ipods. I miss Ipods and still want them back. But I hear we're past them.

"Also a read a blog a few years ago about someones adventures through an MLM, from the start to finally getting out and the impression I get is that there is very much a 'fake it till you make it' situation. Yes maybe there are some people who do well in MLM's, but the vast majority that appear to do well are faking it on social media with the goal of recruiting as many suckers as possible to be part of their downstream. Stay well away."

"Flat Earth nonsense. We watched a documentary about the flat Earthers, and it was obvious that many of the higher profile 'celebrities' in that community no longer believe their bull (if they ever did), but they've invested too much of their lives in it to be able to admit they were wrong, and for some of them, it's become their income source."

From 19-26 I laughed at people taking vacation days and thought 'How lazy are you that you need to take time off other than your scheduled 2 days?' Well, thankfully I'm not like that anymore as I finally realized loyalty doesn't buy you anything and the business could care less about you."

Soda Brainwash
"The Coca-Cola marketing in Mexico is extremely overbearing. It has been for a very long time. it has gotten to the point where they have convinced Mexicans that Coca-Cola is part of their cultural traditions. To shy away from Coca-Cola is to shy away from your friends, family, and community."
"Basically, they have convinced a large portion of the Mexican people that if they don't like Coca-Cola, then they are odd and/or unethical people. That being said, my Mexican wife refuses to acknowledge that she likes Pepsi better. I've given her Pepsi in a cup without telling her and she has praised how good the 'Coke' was."
"After I reveal that it is Pepsi, she throws it away and claims she didn't really like it. If her family is around, she won't offer Pepsi to them if it's all we have. It's not just Pepsi either. RC and store-brand is the same. If it's not Coca-Cola, then it's an insult to her heritage. The brainwashing is remarkable to say the least."

I'm an army myself and I've been to a live concert but I know they sing along to back tracks and I think some of them lip sync often and those clips are the evidence that fans give when they want to prove their 'talent.'"
"I think most of their popularity is chalked up to a couple of them being talented singers, dancers, rappers and the rest is just how charismatic they are and the kind of content they put out. Who doesn't love dogs?
Apparently, a restaurateur in Manhattan.
Eateries owned by Besim Kukaj in New York City have allegedly refused to follow the law for people with service animals. This has led to legal action.
July 2017, at Kukaj's Limon Jungle, diner Henry Goldstein entered the establishment for lunch with his service dog, Cookie. Goldstein had cookie registered with the city to help with his severe anxiety.
The manager allegedly asked to see the dog's papers, and when provided, still kicked Goldstein out.

After this, Goldstein registered a complaint with New York City's Commission on Human Rights. They had a tester call another Kukaj owned establishment, and see if they would allow someone with a service animal.
The employee who answered said they weren't allowed any animals due to health laws.
This case highlights an ongoing problem with the way some people treat their pets. More importantly, it brings up the way people use so called "emotional support" animals.
On one hand, places like restaurants ban non-service animals for a reason. Different animals can set off allergic reactions for people, or even contaminate food.
On the other side of things, people with disabilities need their service animals. Places that take too strong a stance against animals, risk alienating and discriminating against those with genuine need for their animal.
Despite this, some online chose to side with the restaurant owner.

The ADA and often times, specific city laws have definitions of what constitutes a service animal. In New York City, the law specifically says that whatever requirements between the two sets of description provides the most protection for the person with the service animal is what applies.
The ADA also lists what staff are allowed to do and ask about the service animal. They can ask if the animal is required because of a disability, and they can ask what task it is trained to perform.
They are not allowed to ask for documentation, to see the dog demonstrate its task, or what the nature of the person's disability might be.
And of course, outright denying someone with a service animal from your restaurant isn't a good look either.
Kukaj never showed up for the case, leading to Judge John B. Spooner to recommend $14,000 in damages awarded to Goldstein and $28,000 in city fines against the restaurant owner and his restaurant group.
The final ruling has not been given at this time.
Can you tell me how to get, how to get to Sesame Street?
Why, yes. Yes, I can.
The acclaimed children's educational program turns 50 this year. That's five decades of being asked how you get to Sesame Street. It's a question that now has an official answer.
In celebration of the 50th anniversary, the city of New York has named an intersection after the magical street.

Continuing their year long celebration, Sesame Street is being honored with having an intersection named for the titular street.
While you might get more of a Brooklyn or Queens vibe from the depiction on the show, apparently Sesame Street is in Manhattan. The intersection chosen for this honor is West 63rd Street and Broadway, fittingly next to the Sesame Street workshop.
In 2009, for the show's 40th anniversary, this same intersection was temporarily named Sesame Street. Now, the change is permanent, allowing an answer to the catchy question.
Sesame Street has meant a lot to people, having a great influence on children in their developmental phase. There are many who see Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch as powerful icons as Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny.
So it's understandable if you cry a little bit.

Mayor de Blasio said,

The intersection was crowded with hundreds of fans excited to see this legendary show given this recognition.
They were also excited to see their favorite muppets live, and up close.

This event is part of a year long celebration for the children's show. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who's been a guest on the show many times over the years, wrote a piece for the Hollywood reporter about his experience with the show.
That's pretty impressive, since his first guest spot was during it's inaugural year in 1969.
Cookie Monster surprised the internet and hosted a Reddit AMA or Ask Me Anything. While you might think the internet can ruin anything, the AMA was surprisingly wholesome.
Additionally, there is a musical movie in the works, with Anne Hathaway attached to star.
What else will this anniversary year have in store for our muppet friends?
What is the most important thing to look for in a night away? Is it luxury beds? Maybe an exotic locale? Or maybe you just look for a really nice bath close by.
1 Hotel in Brooklyn has what's being called the best bath in New York City. The Riverhouse Suite's bathroom is the stuff of dreams. While the 2000 sq ft. room itself is lovely, the bathroom caught the eye of writer Brennan Kilbane.
1 Hotel is rather proud of this bathroom.
With a tub carved out of a single block of granite, filtered water pumped in piping hot, and a floor to ceiling window overlooking the so-called Greatest City in the World, it's easy to see why Kilbane would gush over it.
All for the low, low price of $7000 a night.
It's certainly not for everyone. In fact, with that price, one could argue it's only for a very specific group of people. The luxury of the bath still makes it difficult to justify the premium pricing.
New York City is known for its premium pricing. People will split rent in an apartment that would cost a third of its pricing anywhere else. It is a city of scarce real estate and costs reflect that.
Even with all that in mind, who is this for? If you have the money to pay $7000 a night, wouldn't you already have a personal luxury bath? And if you can't afford it, why tease yourself with the possibility.
Maybe we need to leave New York alone for a while.
If you think the price is absolutely worth it, you can check out the going rates here. For the rest of us, we'll find a staycation a little more in our budget.
