It's no secret that once a location or item starts trending, they'll become more expensive and harder for people to attain.
But some people had witnessed this on much bigger scales, like their childhood hometowns being transformed into something they didn't recognize.

"I hate when houses have that soulless hotel look."
"I saw one on TikTok yesterday with a beautiful Victorian house that they ripped right through and painted white and grey. It could’ve still been modern and kept the original character! Not sure why people think cookie-cutter homes are the way forward, homes with quirks are much more interesting."

The subReddit was unfortunately ready with responses to this question, as some watched their hometowns transformed into something completely new and unattainable since their childhoods, and others were unable to recreate favorite elements from their childhood because of the cost.
While it's nice for everyone to know about the fun things in the world, those fun things should remain available to everyone.
You've probably been hearing a lot about inflation. Everything from milk to gas to used cars is more expensive and Americans are feeling the crunch.
Earlier this week, as The Associated Press points out, "the government said its consumer price index soared 6.2% from a year ago — the biggest 12-month jump since 1990."
Businesses have struggled to meet demand as the economy rebounds despite global supply chain disruptions that continue to be exacerbated by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
But even before all this, many people were struggling to afford the basic necessities.
But you can dream, can't you? Whether it's the basics or luxuries, people were all too keen to share their thoughts after Redditor Benjamin-Dover- asked the online community,

Millennials Share Things Older Generations Don't Understand About Today's Job Market
Times change, and if you don't change with them you're likely to get left behind. That simple piece of wisdom applies to pretty much everything - up to and including the job market. It seems like a lot of older didn't get that memo, though.
So I'm standing in the store with my mother and she starts in again asking me when one of us (she means me, my partner or the father of my children) are going to get a "real job." All three of us freelance and she just cannot fathom why we would choose not to have a steady 9-5 job that offered benefits and a retirement plan. Of course I've tried explaining that they're not that easy to come by, but she is the head of HR for an international company and has had the same position for longer than many of you readers have been alive. She "grew" with the company and doesn't grasp how rarely that happens anymore. She's never faced a world where a company isn't willing to pay what she's worth, doesn't offer benefits, and certainly doesn't view employees as family members. We freelance because it pays way better and it affords us the freedom to not have to pay for daycare or aftercare costs - and almost nowhere offers health benefits that we can afford anyway, sooo... ?
