While a number of people lost their jobs when the global pandemic hit in 2020, and others had to switch to working remotely, there were those who literally had to show up to work.

Their time and effort thankfully did not go unnoticed for the most part, as they would become known as "essential workers", without whom the world as we know it literally would not function.

If only their value was also noted in their salaries.

Indeed, for far too long it's often been that the hardest working people all over the world are also among the most egregiously underpaid, which in contrast often leads people to wonder if certain professions should be as lucrative as they are.

Teachers really need hazard pay. They have proven to be essential workers and are severally underpaid.

In the last two decades being a teacher has gone beyond educating. Now teachers are therapists, triage workers and security guards.

And they most definitely deserve some major pay hikes. Why do supermodels who exert little to no energy get paid millions while teachers are struggling, sometimes working two to three jobs simultaneously?

We need to do better for our educators.

The minimum wage in America is insultingly low, yet employees working for a pittance are still expected to go above and beyond the call of duty. Some of these stories are pretty frustrating, and only makes it clearer that all work deserves decent pay.

There are just somethings that occur over time in employment that are no go moment! One day you're gingerly doing what is required of you in the contract and then suddenly you're accomplishing feats of insanity flung at you without warning. And when those moments arise we have to either suck it up or stand up and say "Not today Satan! There isn't enough money in the world!"
