People Break Down The Creepiest Mysteries Around The World
I sort of don't want to know... but have to...
I am an avid, no obsessed watcher of real life murder and horror tales. I can't look away. When I hear there is a new episode of Dateline NBC or 20/20 I get flushed with excitement. My DVR is chock full of all sorts of television shows from ID Discovery. I have recently learned that I am not alone in my obsession. With the new world of podcasts, it seems everyone, from every age group and walk of life treats these stories like fanatics. And the creepier and unsolved the better. They do nothing for a good night's sleep, but I can sleep when I'm dead, and hopefully not from being featured on Dateline episode myself. And these stories have origins worldwide.

'Sea People'
battle army GIF by History UKGiphyThe bronze age collapse. Many great and advanced civilizations circled the Mediterranean around 1200BC, but then in a span of only a 20-50 years, the cities were destroyed or abandoned and the surviving people retreating away from the coast to small inland settlements. All of the empires apart from Assyria and some of Egypt collapsed, and the area entered a dark age, with centuries passing before such advanced empires rose again.
Why? No one really knows. There are records of the 'Sea People' coming with advanced weapons - foreign invaders perhaps? Along with indications of a volcanic eruption, but still, such sudden collapse of such large and advanced civilizations is concerning, and perhaps should act as a warning to us now.
DNA Match
Who the hell was the Somerton Man?
I heard about 6-9 months ago they were getting close to having permission to dig him up for DNA testing as he has suspected descendants in Australia.
Yep, he's in a rare genetic group and the woman who claimed that she didn't know him had kids that are apparently in that group.
Horror
For my money, the Hinterkaifeck murders. A whole family bludgeoned to death with a mattock by someone who seemed to have snuck into, and was living in their house for awhile before butchering them all.
The worst part was the maid told the family she heard someone walking around in the attic, the family ignored her until she quit.
They hired a new maid and the murders happened her first day.
The Awful Day
Susan Powell. The husband and his creepy father! I know the husband killed her, I just wish they could find her body. Even though he's dead now, it would be so satisfying to prove it. He was so smug about the fact that no one would find her.
God, I remember following this one after she disappeared but before he murdered the kids and killed himself. That was an awful day. Not only did he take away her family's last connection to her, but probably also their hope of finding her body.
Light in the Dark
rainer maria video GIF by Polyvinyl RecordsGiphyThe Marfa lights. I went out and saw them several years ago and it's haunted me ever since. None of the explanations make sense, the lights bob and weave in ones, twos, and threes, they shoot up and go back and forth and the creepiest part is that sometimes look like they're getting close to you but it's hard to tell because of the darkness.
1561....
1561 Celestial Phenomenon over Nuremberg. There is an illustrated news article from the time.
This is definitely one of my favorite mysteries.... they freaking saw spaceships fighting 500 years before the invention of planes. I think the same happened in Switzerland around the same era.... so it's not a one time thing.
Unmasked
The zodiac killer, his encrypted notes and how they never caught him.
I took a class on serial killers in university and the professor posited a theory that Zodiac and Unabomber were the same person. Probably not true but fun to think about.
https://zodiackillerfacts.com/zodiac-theories/the-accused-the-accusers/zodiac-the-unabomber/
Find the Bones
The Sodder children disappearance.
Their family house burned (after some weird occurrences the night before) and the parents and a few kids made it out, but a few kids didn't and supposedly burned in the fire. But their bones were never found which should have been their and the firefighters acted strange. Very interesting case.
Beware the Piper
evil the joker GIFGiphyThe origins behind the story of the Pied Piper.
"It's been 100 years since our children left"..this line makes me shiver with terror.
My favorite theory was that someone came and recruited them for a Children's Crusade with the parents' consent (because times were bad). Then, in better times, the villagers distanced themselves from responsibility by saying the children were led away in secret, and it became the Pied Piper's tale.
Spooked....
The spook light near Quapaw, Oklahoma. (I'm horrible at explaining this so I'd suggest you go to google or something) I went to go see it on one of the best nights ever recorded. It split in two, was unnaturally bright, changed from white to yellow then to red, it blinked a couple of times too. Anyways, on a hill near it, people set up some good cameras pointed at the Spook Light and sent other people to walk closer to it all while having radio connection.
The people walking to it reported that it had gone away after a certain point, but the camera people still saw it on camera. An old legend if I remember correctly is that it's the lantern of a Native American boy who had fallen off a cliff or something.
Kaboom....
Spontaneous human combustion.
It's doesn't even take anything special, just clothes and fat. I remember seeing a test on tv with a pig carcass wrapped in cloth that perfectly recreates the strange pattern of burning: intense heat in and around the body, but the fire doesn't spread.
Basically, if a small fire starts on the clothes, it can melt the fat in flesh. Then the fat seeps into the nearby clothes and efficiently burns, creating something like a candle where the clothes are the wick and the fat is the wax.
Flight
Malaysian Airlines flight MH370.
While we will never really know I think the pilot suicide theory makes the most sense and has the most supporting evidence.
The Fall...
Russia GIFGiphyAll of the dark stuff that probably went down in the Soviet Union's government but we'll never know about because it was so well hidden, then the Union collapsed.
Dylatov Pass Incident
I'd say the Dylatov Pass Incident. So strange to find the hikers just naked with strange wounds and with the tent ripped up and clothes strewn in random places.
I think it's mostly solved by the survivor of a very near identical incident on another mountain. Apparently a down force wind caused them to flee. Pretty much every detail was explained including the radiation. It made a lot of sense actually and seemed very plausible. I think it's true that the simplest explanations are usually the correct one.
Axman!
Jason Voorhees GIF by memecandyGiphyThe ax man murders of New Orleans A person sneaking in to houses with ease and chopping at anyone's head leaving many with shattered skulls and then dropping off the used weapon (cleaver or axe). I find the simplicity a bit creepy.
Mr. Cruel...
There are many intriguing mysteries. But up there as creepiest? For Australians over 38+, especially if they lived in Melbourne in the 1980s-90s, I'd say Mr Cruel. He was essentially the Boogeyman come to life.
Australians do not screw around when it comes to serial killers.
The Beauty Queen...
The death of Jon Benet Ramsey. I feel like the family knows what really happened to her.
I'm expecting hate from this, but I do believe Burke did it by accident and I don't mind that he was never convicted because it was a very unfortunate accident. That family suffered enough and the parents went into protection mode.
Down Below....
scooby doo mystery GIFGiphyOak island. Whatever is down there, whoever put it there really, really didn't want it getting out. Seriously look up all the crazy crazy defense mechanisms they put there. They are currently trying to unearth it. I would rather not learn what is buried down there. Oak Island the Mystery

20. Absolute nightmare fuel
"I was talking to some friends on my laptop around 2:00 AM when I felt thirsty. I went down the first flight of stairs and turned my phone light on. The stairs turn at a 90 ° angle, and I stood at the intersection looking down into my living room where I shone my light.
I saw a dark figure hiding at the other side of the couch. At first, I thought it was just a blanket, but the further I went downstairs the more it looked like a face. I was about halfway down the stairs when I stopped and immediately felt sick to my stomach. The figure ducked behind the couch, and that's when I knew what I was looking at was definitely not a blanket. I ran upstairs and locked my door. I got no sleep or water that night.
When I woke up the next morning, I noticed my back door was slightly open. I think someone might have broken into the house. I just hope they didn't have any malicious intentions."
19. This poor little kid
"Moved into a new house. Put the kids to bed that night older kid didn't want to sleep in her bed so we gave up and let her sleep on the floor In front of her bedroom door. Went to finish unpacking and getting things set up. Around 2/3 in the morning we heard her screaming and yelling creepiest sound I have ever heard from her. Went to see what was going on she was kicking and thrashing around in her floor but still sleeping. Tried waking her up to no avail. Apparently she started having night terrors when we moved. Scariest thing I have ever witnessed especially when it's your own kid and you can't do anything for them. This went on for months. I had to go Into Her room and just sit there to make sure she wasn't going to hurt herself while thrashing around and screaming bloody murder. You feel helpless. Thankfully she doesn't have them anymore."
18. Sleep paralysis is no joke
"One of my sleep paralysis episodes where my dad came into my room with a knife laid down next to me in bed and slowly plunged it into my rib cage while staring me in the eyes. It felt so incredibly real and is the only time I have ever screamed while having an episode also he was wearing the exact same clothes when I seen him the following morning which is a bit odd as I didnt see him the night before."
17. This creepy dad
"I was at a friends house when i was about...hmm I dont know 10 or something. It was me, my friend, and another friend that was also invited. We were planning to stay up all night but we ended up crashing at like 3 in the morning. I actually did pull the all nighter I planned to go to sleep but I heard a weird sound. It sounded kind of like a distorted refrigerator hum. It then abruptly stopped. I decide its nothing and I close my eyes. I hear the sound again only its more of a moan type sound. I see my friends dad just staring at me and my friends. I close my eyes and i have a mini heart attack. I open my eyes to see that he is gone. I honestly thought i was going to have a real heart attack. The way he was just...looking at us was creepy. I didnt sleep the rest of the night."
16. This high up knocker
"Something, or someone knocked on my window, it was three consecutive knocks that sounded very precise and clear. Thank god my curtains were drawn.
I live on the 17th floor of my building."
14. A friendly nudist
"Not so much horrified but completely shocked. I left my friends house at around 3 am. She lived somewhere in Santa Monica, California. I'm sitting in my car when low and behold. A naked man walks by my car and I mean completely naked. Only wearing shoes. So what do I do? Start up a convo with the dude. He told me he likes to walk the neighborhood naked on occasion because he can and no one is ever out this late. He said I surprised him when I called him out. Such a weird encounter."
13. Remember the clown problem we had?
"Guy, in a clown costume, walked right down my street, with an axe. Yes this was in 2016, I wouldn't leave my bedroom after 8:30 pm for a month after that."
12. Demon clothes
"Sometimes the clothes I leave on my chair instead of folding look like spooky demons at 3am and that always gets me."
11. Ah, the orbs...
"I do a lot of late night driving alone along empty highways in the middle of nowhere (yay night shifts) and there is a particular stretch of highway and area that is especially creepy. There is no lighting whatsoever, from streetlights or civilisation; and may be lucky to see another vehcile every 50 miles or so.
In the night, especially past 10pm, there are often strange, bright white orbs that hover in the ditance, as if another truck were to be approaching, but they never do. It just hangs around for what seems like an eternity, before disappearing. This happens a lot on this road...."
10. Creepy shadow people
"Was chilling on the porch with my family (aunt, uncle, 2 kids and myself) I go inside to get a beer and see something kid size/shape duck their head into the master bedroom. Thinking the little one is playing hide and seek I go in to look and no one is there. I go back outside and ask who was playing in the bedroom, my aunt says 'we've all been outside, whats up?' So I tell her. She immediately tells the kids to go play because we needed to have a grownups only talk. She basically tells me that the house is haunted and to NEVER talk about it and ignore it because they FINALLY got the 'Shadow people' to chill out. This is coming from a career military family with a 'cut the ******* attitude.'"
9. The night belongs to the bugs
"Just the other night I stepped outside to check on something and came back in. As I sat down I noticed a big roach (palmetto) on the wall above the door I had just used. I turned around to get my shoes again and it was gone. I call to my wife in the bedroom to come help me find it. She appears and I tell her the situation...as I turn to start the hunt she says to me, 'It's on you!' and I start to feel its creepy legs scurrying near my neck. I fling and flail trying to get it off and it falls to the floor where I quickly step on it. I guess as soon as I turned to get my shoes it flew off the wall right onto me. Ugh."
8. Surprise visit
"So a while ago some coyote or wolf or something entered my area (Middlesex County) and was roaming around. At approximately 2:30 AM I go downstairs for a drink and snack and see the animal staring at me through my glass patio doors. I nearly **** my pants."
7. A bunch of creeps at a campsite
"Having a tent surrounded by a large group of drunk guys at night
They were yelling out what they wanted to do to me & didn't care about the guy I was with
It was a walk in coastal campsite that we had hiked to
They had arrived there by boat"
6. Absolutely rattling
"I felt my entire house shake . I was the only one awake to feel and hear it. Turns out there was an explosion a few miles away"
5. Thank goodness for cats
"My cat went missing recently (he's back home now) and I was scouring the neighborhood late at night looking for him. I figured out why my house gets so many cockroaches and it's honestly a miracle I don't have more. There were literally thousands out in the streets, in people's yards, everywhere I looked - cockroaches. Big ones, babies, all sizes, just hanging out. They barely registered me walking by. Thankfully my two cats are cockroach killers, I get 2-3 a week in the house."
4. Deadly animals
"I was walking home at around 2AM or so. I got within 15-20 ft of my front door and then stopped. I had this just weird feeling that something wasn't right. So I took out my phone and turned on the flash light...revealing that about 5 ft away from me was a bull Elk staring right at me.
If I hadn't randomly stopped and done that, I'd have walked into it and could very well have been killed. As it was, I still backed away slowly and found a different way into my home."
3. This could've been even more horrifying
"I was up late one night in my second story apt that overlooked a fairly low traffic intersection. I happened to be fidgeting with my treadmill settings - which was right next to the window.
I happened to glance out the window and saw a kid on a bicycle (not that strange in this neighborhood). At the same instant a car blows through the stop sign, hits the kid and drags her underneath the car for about 30 feet.
I yelled to the gf to call 911 and ran downstairs to attempt to help? Surprisingly the girl crawled out from under the car, was beat up but ok.
Disturbing, but best case ending."
2. Shadows coming to life
"Well, I was doing my regular staring out the window for no reason thing and I notice something on the lawn. It's dark so it's hard to make out. It's a shadowy figure, but I can't make out details. I watch it curiously to see what this figure will do and it starts moving. It moves through the carport and this is the part that scared me. As it walked through the carport, the motion sensor light turned on. Shadow disappeared the moment it turned on, but I know what I saw."
1. Too near a miss
"This is close enough but when i was younger i went downstairs to lock the front door because we forget to do it sometimes and just a few seconds after i did that somebody tried to open the door we later found out somebody broke into out garage and stole some things and tried to enter the house through the front door if i had not gone downstairs to lock the door i might not be here making this comment"
Most of Earth is made up of water. Literally a vast majority of the planet is covered in a wet majesty. The oceans spread far and wide and there is still so much we don't know about what stories the water keeps, things we'll never know. Living and traveling on the tides can be an incredible experience, but it can also be like something out of movie thriller. There are many who live to tell quite a tale and many who have not. The water has it's ghosts as well.
Redditor u/Jarsquat wanted all the sailors out there to tell us a tale or two from their time exploring open waters by asking...
Sailors, what's the creepiest, scariest, or most unnerving thing you've seen/witnessed while at sea?
The Unknown Sounds.
I'm not a sailor but my family owns a boat and I frequently go out on fishing trips in the sea with my dad (it's usually more us talking about life with him doing most of the fishing).
Well, on one trip, we were out about I think ten miles from the beach. My dad was telling me about how he got into and won a bar fight and I was just silently listening when a weird whistling/howling sound sort of surrounded us.
I can't really describe it. It was like a cross between a wail and the sound of someone blowing air over an open bottle.
My dad looked pretty calm but I could tell he was freaked out too. It went on for about another minute, slowly becoming stronger, until it just abruptly ended with a screech from somewhere in the water.
We never talk about it and I still wonder what was making that sound. LockedPages
The Feeding Frenzy...
GiphyNot scary, just odd. but one time we were docked in Bermuda and somebody screwed up and dumped the galley waste into the harbor.
I have never seen so much marine life in one place. Every type of fish imaginable, turtles the whole whack, all on a feeding frenzy. It got so crazy that you couldn't really see water anymore for about 5m off the ship. Just a mass of crazy writhing fish. stuwoo
Tugging Along.
I was pulling a small sail boat mast from the bottom of a lake during a storm - waves had turtled the boat. So I was about ten feet down and pulling the mast up and the weight of it pushed me down so I was basically standing at the bottom of the lake and could see the waves up top. It was an overall weird/frightening/stimulating experience. And then something big swam past me and brushed my leg - must've been at least 3 feet long. I eventually got the boat turned back over and the mast on board and we got towed in. As we hit land I laid down on the beach and decided I wasn't going to go in the water for a couple days. FBIFreezeDontMove
The Sunken....
GiphyThe scariest is always finding unmarked half sunk boats. You have to check them to make sure there are no people or bodies and report them. Every time I pull up on one though the hair stands up on my body as I am hoping there are no bodies. So far so good but every time it unsettles me. whiskeyfordinner
This thing was a killer.
2 years ago I was about 150 miles offshore from long island NY, in a 31 foot boat. We were trolling for yellowfin tuna. In the distance we saw 2 hug fins coming out of the water so we headed towards them thinking it was a couple of sharks. As we got closer, we realized it was one big shark... there it was just cruising slowly at the surface, not even the slightest bit disturbed by us approaching.
Once we got up next to it we realized that this shark was almost as big as the boat. It had to be at least 25 feet long and several thousand pounds. I was in absolute shock as we passed it. I'd never seen a shark even close to that big. I've seen plenty of whales, turtles, dolphins, sharks, all kinds of crazy things out at sea. But never a predator this large. It was definitely not a whale shark. This thing was a killer.
I want to say that it was a tiger shark but the internet says they don't even get close to that big so I really just don't know. I wish I could have gotten a picture of it, but I was just frozen, I couldn't even move. I will never forget that moment. The ocean is an incredible place. Bred_Stix
3 Years Later.
I did a double-handed overnight race last summer and had a 45 minute conversation with my grandfather while on watch. I was the only one on deck and my grandfather had been dead for three years at that point. I'm fairly certain hypothermia, dehydration, low blood sugar, and exhaustion were all in play, but it was super weird. zwiiz2
Albatrossed.
GiphyOne of my co-workers fled to the US from Vietnam in a small boat as a young child. (She was one of the Boat People.) We were complaining about little shit when she explained why she almost never got upset.
She was only 7 when this happened. She and her sister, father, mother and grandfather were in a small fishing boat in the middle of the ocean. They had been out of food for several days. She and her sister (5) managed to catch an albatross on the boat.
Her father said it was bad luck to kill one and released it. She said as she watched it fly away, she knew then that she and her family were going to starve to death. She hated her father at that point too.
The next day they were picked up by a trawler and taken to California. She still wears an albatross necklace for good luck. mel2mdl
The weirdest night of my life.....
Pacific ocean. Complete cloud cover and no waves, so the sky completely blended in with the sea. Four hours of lookout watch had me hearing my name called and struggling with some dissociation. The only way to get it to stop was think aloud and talk to myself, which freaked out the people inside the bridge.
The weirdest night of my life.
Edit: this was at night so everything was utterly black. The hairs on the back of my neck were perpetually up. Masterdarwin88
Law & Order: Maritime Edition....
GiphyWhen I was a kid I got really freaked out by this human hand that was floating in the harbor. It was just a rubber glove with trapped air. munkijunk
in my bones......
I was on the Enterprise (CVN65), and we sailed around South Africa toward Australia deep in the Southern Ocean. It was June and we went through a large winter storm that was rolling us all over and making the ship creak.
We had all the water-tights closed, including the hanger bay. The curtain doors for the elevators have smaller people sized doors in them. Snuck up to see the storm first hand. Go through the inner door (close it) and open the outer door in time to see a crazy big wave peaking as it is about to crash over the flight deck. Closed and dogged the door just as it hit. I could feel the impact in my bones. TimO4058
Off the Coast....
GiphyA mate of mine I was working on a Tuna boat with came across an airplane emergency life jacket floating in the water about 200miles out at sea, east coast of New Zealand. 1kz_akl1kz_akl
In the Sea of Cortez.....
My dad and I were sailing in the Sea of Cortez, it was early morning with some patchy surface fog. I was 14 or 15 at the time. We heard what sounded like applause in the distance, but becoming louder. We could soon see a patch of disturbed water getting closer and closer and hundreds of objects flying out of the water and splashing back down. A few of them flew out, hit the deck of the boat and bounced back into the water. Stingrays. A whole school of them, jumping out of the water for some reason. It was weird and awesome. Tyree_Callahan
a towering spike of death....
Giant spears plunging in and out of the sea lol.
In the gulf of Alaska, I have seen some crap. But one of the most terror inspiring things I've seen are what can happen with some of the loose logs from the logging trade.
Sometimes when a big log gets loose from a raft, it becomes partially waterlogged and floats small end up. So you have this 4 foot diameter telephone pole in the sea, sticking up 40 feet into the air. No biggie. Shows up on radar, and easy to spot.
Now, giv le that pole 20 years of floating around or so. It rots in such a way that it becomes filed to a point by wind and waves, and looks quite menacing.
Now, put it in a gale with 25 foot waves (50 feet trough to peak)
.... And it becomes a towering spike of death that shoots up from the sea every 15 to 20 minutes, out of nowhere, 60 feet into the air, only to plunge down into the dark depths waiting to skewer some unsuspecting boat in a few minutes when it thrusts out of the ocean again.
It is a genuine terrifying sight, rare, but not so rare that I haven't seen 2 in one season. It's like the spiked tip of neptune looking for an opportunity to mess your stuff up in a particularly terrifying way. bidet_enthusiast
GEORGE!!!!
I worked on tug boats for about 6 years. The back deck is considered a "wet deck" meaning it isn't unusual for it to be under water at times. We were making tow with an oil rig at sea with waves that were 14-16' and one hit us just right, taking my coworker George and pulling him out to sea. Now it's 3am and pitch black.
This is nearly always a death sentence. About 20 seconds later (which felt like an eternity) another wave brought George back on deck, plopping him safely on his butt right next to the winch. George laughed and got right back to work without missing a beat.
Edit: I'm mostly a lurker on here, didn't think this would take off the way it did.
Thanks for the silvers! Let me know if you wanted to hear some more sea stories. I've got some about drunk people getting on our boat, a small boat filled with half crocked pirates trying to get on our barge and a bonus story of one of the times I almost drowned in the rudder room. daniel1310
Fata Morgana.
GiphyA couple of years ago I was sailing as a cadet on a merchant vessel and I was scheduled on the evening watch. The rest of the crew was enjoying dinner and I was to call if anything went wrong. We were sailing over open ocean, no land within a day sailing around us and all of a sudden I notice a island coming up on my bow. It was still far away but it shouldn't be there. I looked at the maps, checked my position multiple times and then I noticed the island did not appear on my radars. I called down to the messroom to tell there was a weird island in front of us.
The chief mate came up and checked again the maps and positions. He also noticed that the radars did not see the island. We called the captain and when he came up he started laughing. He was a old sailor with over 40 years of experience under his belt. He explained us it was a fata Morgana. The real island was more than a day sailing away in the direction we were heading at that moment. After that incident he took over the watch and I went down. It wasn't really creepy but it was strange. chief970
Close Encounters.
Not a sailor; however this was at sea... My dad went boating with some friends down near Rocky Point in Mexico in the mid-90s. They went out late at night to drink. It was incredibly dark apart from the boat lights when suddenly a helicopter flew above their boat and the local who took them out shut everything off immediately. The helicopter hovered over some water in the distance and dumped a few bodies into the water before flying off. When it was out of sight the local turned everything back on and shrugged it off saying, "they do that all the time, never seen it so close up before." Sleepyfalcon9
S.O.S
Not a sailor, but a marine on a ship. We were cruising through the pacific when we received an SOS from a boat (from what I heard he was trying to cross the ocean by himself). Took a few days to find him.
I remember watching off the side of the ship. The sails were imprinted with the Chinese flag. a small team was sent to board the small sail boat.
But when they arrived no one was one board. We searched for a body for the following days but found nothing. Still don't know what happened to him.

The Calm Before.....
Worked the shrimp boats in the Gulf back in the '70s. 100 miles off the coast of Louisiana and the sea got dead calm. I mean dead calm, not a ripple or a swell. The sea was so calm that vibrations from the engine idling would make little ripples in the water. The surface of the sea looked like a huge never ending mirror extending out in all directions. The visual memory I have of seeing that perfectly flat sea in the moonlight is deeply etched in my memory and I can see it today in my mind just as real as if it was happening now.
I could talk about 25 foot seas in the middle of a hurricane, or a half dozen water spouts dancing around us during a summer squall, or sargassum seaweed as far as the eye could see so thick around the boat that you could walk on it, or flying fish all taking flight at the same time like a flock of birds skimming across the water. but none of that stuff had the impact on me like the dead calm of the sea 100 miles offshore. oops77542
Red Alert.
On a navy ship, we were out on patrol and took a massive lightning bolt to the aft mast at the same time as the wind picked up significantly. We started listing quite heavily and the thunder made it sound like we hit something. Most of us got really fired up and immediately ran below the waterline to do damage assessment, one guy ran to the bridge to check out what had happened. Luckily it was only lightning and not something we'd hit, but it really felt like we had.
Apart from fire alarms I've never been so ready to do damage control in my life! Crossroots
The Bells....
When I was about 19, maybe 20, my mom's boyfriend at the time decided to take us out on his boat one afternoon so that we could lounge around and swim in the ocean far from the shore. We were super excited because the water was turquoise, completely see through and the perfect temperature that day. So we found what seemed to be the perfect location, dropped the anchor and had a snack.
Before long, we were completely surrounded by hundreds of giant milky white jellyfish. There were so many that we couldn't see clear water anywhere around us. Their bells were easily 5 feet in diameter, if not more. We did not swim that day. kinkyp3ach
