The L.A. Times Tried To Make A Ranking Of Fast Food Fries And People Have A Lot Of Feelings About It
Lucas Kwan Peterson is a food columnist in Los Angeles. At great personal risk to his own reputation, he decided to undertake a gargantuan task: ranking the 19 most popular LA fast food french fries. The internet, of course, had some very strong feelings about his opinions.
As soon as Peterson's ranking hit the LA Times, people were in an uproar:
I am pleased to announced the triumphant return of OFFICIAL FOOD POWER RANKINGS, which will now be a regular thing… https://t.co/wxYykAVz67— Lucas Kwan Peterson (@Lucas Kwan Peterson) 1549993073.0
Among his most unpopular picks was putting In-N-Out's burger's dead last—sacrilege among any good Los Angeles resident. He wrote of In-N-Out's fries:
"In-N-Out is always crazy busy so the fries are fresh, at the very least. But they're also bland, crumbly little matchsticks that aren't improved by any amount of ketchup, salt, cheese, or salad dressing you want to add to them."
@lucaspeterson @latimesfood In-and-out fries are the worst. Super Duper only gets a visit because of the evilness of in and out fries.— Cameron Sinclair (@Cameron Sinclair) 1550017002.0
The top three fries Peterson tried? Five Guys, McDonald's, and Del Taco, in that order.
@lucaspeterson @latimesfood This has to be the most ill-informed, contradictory rankings ever. Somehow Del-Taco get… https://t.co/RgHX0NiiF6— Jamie Neill (@Jamie Neill) 1550002147.0
In a divisive age of big opinions, the superiority of certain french fries is no exception.
@lucaspeterson @latimesfood Sir... you are a Neanderthal. In-n-Out's fries are made almost exactly like Five Guys… https://t.co/uIFWynDBg3— Cat (@Cat) 1550096439.0

Anyone bold enough to rank a city's fries is simply asking for judgement.
@lucaspeterson @latimesfood I haven’t had most of these fries 🍟. But have definitely had @McDonalds, @Innoutburger… https://t.co/9WmzS3p9c2— 8YearsNoIndictments........ComeBackBarack (@8YearsNoIndictments........ComeBackBarack) 1550221571.0

Fortunately, there were some people who actually agreed with Peterson's analysis:

@lucaspeterson @latimesfood I agree. I don’t like In and Outs fries. I like my fries salty and crispy.— Brian 🇺🇸 (@Brian 🇺🇸) 1550110328.0
@lucaspeterson @latimesfood Discovered Del Taco fries a few years ago. Totally underrated. Glad to see you agree.— douglake (@douglake) 1550199936.0

Several prominent LA residents, like LA Mayor Eric Garcetti and writer Matthew D'Ambrosio also offered their takes:
In n Out fries are trash and I'm glad people are finally talking about that very true fact.— Matthew "Rocco" D'Ambrosio™ (@Matthew "Rocco" D'Ambrosio™) 1550011665.0
What are truly the best fries in LA? Does anyone know? Will we ever know? There are some questions simply too large for humanity.

Losing your hoodies to your partners is just a fact of relationship life. It's almost a rite of passage, let's be real. This is particularly true for anyone dating a woman. Speaking for womankind, we have no idea why we love hoodies and sweaters so much. We just do. We know it's weird, we know that hoodie doesn't really belong to us - but it belongs with us, ya know? Things between us and hoodies is just something too deep to explain.
One poor soul asked Reddit:
Yeah, the responses pretty much devolved into a support and remembrance group for the millions of hoodies lost each year to wives and girlfriends. RIP hoodie homies. You were loved. Here are some of the more popular responses. And women of the world, if you've adopted a hoodie from an ex please make sure to give it a loving forever home. Hoodies deserve it.
Minimum wage is crap. There. I said it. We can all stop pretending it's not. If you've never worked for minimum wage, consider yourself impossibly lucky. Those of you who have will totally get what this reddit user meant when they asked:
Minimum wage workers, what is something that is against the rules for customers to do but you aren't paid enough to actually care?
We all want to think that work ethic just is what it is, but I promise you when you make next-to-nothing it's not enough money for you to chase down a poop-covered man to try and hold him until store security gets there. Yeah, that was personal experience. Nope, I didn't even consider giving chase. Here are some of the best responses - some may have been edited for content or clarity.

There is nothing better in life than hearing the phrases... "You WON!", "Free" and "Lifetime Supply!" Hearing those sentiments can make your heart melt; no matter what the prize is.
Heck, give me a lifetime supply of Corn Flakes and I'll jump for joy. The victory of winning is a highly potent drug. If only all the times we won something money could be involved, then we'd all die happy.
One Redditor asked Anyone who won a "lifetime supply" of something, what did you win, and are they still supplying it to you?
