People Explain Which Fast Food Restaurants They Refuse To Eat At
Reddit user Feisty_Affect_7487 asked: 'What is one fast food restaurant you will never go to?'
Fast food is a staple in most households. While not the healthiest option our there, the food is always good, and it's a great option when you need something fast or in a pinch.
There are dozens of fast food places out there, and everyone has a favorite. My brother and I go to Wendy's once a week, and while we'll eat at other places when we have to, we don't like any place better than Wendy's.
With everyone having a favorite fast good restaurant, everyone also has a least favorite. Redditors are sharing which fast food restaurants they hate so much, they refuse to eat at them.
It all started when Redditor Feisty_Affect_7487 asked:
"What is one fast food restaurant you will never go to?"

"Sonic. Got served rotten dairy, then got called a lying f**king b*tch by the manager. I wasn't even asking for money back since I was already out of town. Just called to warn them that it was rotten."
– Apprehensive-Air8917
"Welp might as well add the time I got a chili dog from Sonic and noticed a strange color on the side while looking at, only to pick it up and reveal that the entire underside of the bun was covered in blue mold. How the f**k does a person not notice that before it gets out the window?"

Employee Horrors
"Sonic- I worked there, the hotdogs/chilly have a chance of being 2+ days old, same with the gravy. You also better hope someone taught an employee how to clean the ice cream/ slushy machines. If not, you might have a similar story to mine. When I was new, they were training us at an old sonic, so we would go work at a new one. The manager was also 'new' to that area and was heading to the new one."
"So one day, he decided it was time to clean the ice cream machine and asked one of the employees from there to teach us. They didn't know how, so he went around asking, and no one who worked there knew how to clean it. So he gathered us around to teach us, he shut down the machine and opened it up. A cascade of ice cream mix and maggots came pouring down. The machine was apparently crushing the maggots as it mixed the ice cream. He cleaned the slushy machine the next day, but I wasn't there to see it, I just heard it wasn't pretty."
– petty_witch
"I have a similar story about the Dairy Queen I worked at."
"There was a little drainage channel built into the machine, so melted soft serve could go to the floor grate. This was predictably never cleaned, and soon enough - maggots."
"Owner was informed, and he just said "use bug spray" (which would, of course, have gotten into the ice cream...). Manager rushed over from their other restaurant and desperately tried to clean it with a pipe cleaner, then threatened to fire anyone who spoke a word about it."
"Fun times."
– joefred111
"when you pay like sh*t and cut corners at every opportunity then yeah youre gonna have employees who barely keep it together, if at all."
"I used to run a DQ. Busiest one in the entire region. I was routinely by myself, 7am to well into the night. Towards the end I was getting 130 hours a week in a salaried position. I was *sleeping at the restaurant* it was so bad. The moment I left "oh we'll give you whatever you want!!!" like no dude it's two years too late"
– verdenvidia
"I'm never getting fast food ice cream ever again what the F**K"
– 4ps22
Ew. Just...Ew.
"Jack in the Box restaurant I used to go to almost weekly while working overnights was closed down due to spider infestation of the breading for fried chicken..."
– Tzokal
"In the early 1990s an e-coli outbreak was traced to Jack in the Box. It killed four children, and something like 700 or 800 people got sick. Never eaten there since then."
– Schmliza
What It Turned Into
"Panera is over priced cardboard portrayed as food, blech."
– criket2016
"I would like to apologize for the greed of a once great company called St. Louis Bread Co., nationally known now as Panera Bread. When they started in St. Louis, it truly was different and very good. Mass production does this to most great food. As a St. Louisan who used to love St. Louis Bread Co and even worked there for a short time, I apologize for what they have become."
– Roach55
"I had the weirdest, dumbest experience at a Panera in Portland, Oregon, about ten years ago. I went there under the impression it was going to be good. It was bland and overpriced, but didn't stand out as anything other than kind of mediocre. But the customer service was AWFUL. Legitimately, just the worst. The gal that took my order was needless rude, even though we were polite and tipped generously, and then when I tried to use their restroom and found it was locked, the manager stormed out of her office and yelled at me, saying that I had to be escorted in and out of the bathroom and couldn't just do my business in peace. She marched me to the restroom, stood guard outside and then walked me back to me table after like we were in a prison yard. It was so bizarre and humiliating. I never went back and left them some rock bottom reviews."
"They were near a MAX station, so that's probably why they were so edgy about the bathroom use, but if I actually were a homeless person I think I just would have peed on their floor rather than putting up with kthat kind of treatment."
– Bonbonnibles

As a kid in the 70's it was great, and not because I was a kid at a pizza place, but because you would sit down at a red-checkered table cloth, a server would greet you nicely. And the place was clean. Now it feels like you're going into a money laundering front with angry servers and everything is sticky and smells like dirty socks."

Food Isn't The Only Thing That Matters
"Popeyes."
"The food is great. The service is just absolute garbage. There are always missing items from my order. Coke machine always broken. I refuse to go there anymore. I've been to several locations in San Antonio and they all the same."

"Pretty sure it’s a company policy to have sh*tty service. I don’t think I’ve ever seen something as consistent country wide as bad service at Popeyes."
– BustyUncle
I'm starting to think maybe fast food shouldn't be a staple.
Fast food restaurants attract a wide and varied clientele.
Owing, of course, to the fact that they are speedy, relatively inexpensive, and often delicious, if seldom nutritious.
With so many fast food restaurants to choose from, often situated right next to one another on major highways, it's easy to become confused as to which items are on what menus.
Or if we're really in a hurry, we might find ourselves driving up to a drive through window and ordering a cheeseburger and fries, only to realize we're at a bank.
Ludicrous as the idea might sound, such encounters have definitely happened.
One simply needs to ask an employee at any of these fast service establishments for proof, and they will likely share their stories with glee.
"Fast food workers, what is your 'Sir, this is a Wendy's' moment?"
Always Look For The Golden Arches
"This is really weird that this became a meme, because I swear this is true."
"In about 95 I was driving from New England to Florida for a college spring break trip."
"Somewhere in South Carolina we stopped at a Wendy's."
"Near the hallway to the bathrooms they had a big map of South Carolina and I said to a person 'can you tell me where we are?'"
" I was pretty clearly indicating the map."
"The lady said, 'Honey, you in the Wendy's!'"
"I was like.... thanks ok."
"So no big Macs."- Wobblebut

"One time this older dude rushes up to order and slams a coupon on the counter saying 'I want this!'"

"I ask him 'What exactly would you like to order?'"
"He instantly gets disgruntled with me for not reading his G*d damn mind and shakes his finger at the coupon and said 'Well Whatever is on the coupon, obviously!?' in a condescending tone."
"I just look at him for a minute and say word for word 'Sir, this is McDonald’s'."
"I don’t know what you want me to do with this KFC coupon."
”He looks at me dumbfounded."
"Then looks behind me at the menu and around the store, yells 'Awh, Sh*t', like this isn’t his first time walking into the wrong establishment, grabs the coupon and storms off."- BALD-HEADED_HOE

People Break Down Which Foods No Longer Taste As Good As They Used To
Like lots of kids growing up, I did love my candy and my sugar. Truth be told, I wasn't allowed to have as much as I would have liked, but that doesn't mean I didn't sneak some candies whenever I had the opportunity.
Now that I'm older though? My taste buds just aren't the same.
I can't stomach too much of anything super sweet and the idea of chowing down on candy and chocolate the way I see some kids do pretty much grosses me out.
My body thanks me, though!
People shared their thoughts with us after Redditor Fulhus asked the online community:
"What food doesn't taste as good as it used to?"
Planterz Cheese Balls
"Planters Cheez Balls. Those things were like the food of the gods when I was a kid in the 80s. When they brought them back for a while a few years ago I bought a few cans, only to find out they tasted like disappointment."
phillymjs
It's true what they say: You can't go home again.
Juicy Fruit
"Juicy Fruit gum. They ruined the flavor 20 years ago. It tastes bitter after 20 seconds. They should just discontinue the gum."
InterestingClerk91
Honestly, yes. It tastes like nothing now. Then again, I haven't had gum in years and I'm okay with that.
Thin Mints
"Thin Mints — most other Girl Scout cookies since they changed manufacturer, but I miss the old thin mints the most."
[deleted]
I had some recently and I really enjoyed them but I guess I wouldn't know! I didn't grow up eating Girl Scout cookies.

KFC

Pop Tarts
"Pop tarts. They are chalky/pasty and so thin now."
[deleted]
If you really want to taste a proper Pop Tart, I have found that the store brands taste a lot like the old ones. Check some out.
Corn Pops

"Peaches. I've commented on this many times but the last several years the peach crop has sucked. I haven't had a good, juicy, non-mealy peach in a long time."
llcuff80
The ones you buy at the store are nowhere near as good as the ones my friend can just pick off the tree in his backyard!
Klondike Bars
"Klondike bars, they are half of what they used to be and the coating is chocolate flavored crap they mist across them instead of actually coating them in something approaching real chocolate."
way2funni
They melt so quickly, too! Not worth it. I haven't had one in years.
Sorry to disappoint all of you: The things you loved eating as a kid are pretty bad now.
Your wallet and health will thank you later. Much of it is just really terrible refined sugar.

People Break Down Which Fast Food Chains They Wish Would Go Out Of Business
There are very few people in the United States who don't indulge in fast food every once in a while.
Sometimes it's out of pleasure, taking an occasional indulgence in the delicious, salty, if less than healthy, treats the food chains provide.
Other times, it might be out of necessity, as it might be the only option while on the road or waiting in the airport after your flight was canceled for the second time.
But there are some fast food chains to which people have such an aversion to that they simply will not eat from them, even if it is literally the only option.
Making one almost wish that these places would go out of business, so that they will never even be an option.
Redditor rcinvestments was eager to hear which fast food chains people wish would go out of business, and thus no longer be found in rest stops and airport food courts, leading them to ask:
"What fast food chain should go out of business?"

Of course, the quality of the food might not alway be the reason people wish some places would go out of business.
Sometimes, the food might simply be so good that you find yourself unable to resist your temptations.
Ask anyone with an office in close proximity to a Shake Shack.
And these days, who's office ISN'T in close proximity to a Shake Shack...
Healthy, well-balanced fare it is not, but there's no denying people across the globe love fast food.
