Rita Wilson Just Roasted Son Colin Hanks Hard For Being Oblivious To Kate Hudson's Crush On Him As A Kid
At the Unforgettable Evening Benefit Gala for the Women's Cancer Research Fund last Thursday in Beverly Hills, Rita Wilson introduced Kate Hudson, who was being honored at the event. Wilson commented that Hudson could have been her daughter-in-law, if only her son Colin Hanks hadn't been "too clueless."
Rita Wilson is a film and television actress and producer whose notable roles include Liz Langston in Jingle All The Way, alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger. She executive produced Mamma Mia! and its sequel, among other films. Wilson married Tom Hanks in 1988 and the couple have four children, including the aforementioned Colin.
Kate Hudson is an actress, singer, fashion designer, and author. She rose to prominence for her role as Penny Lane in Almost Famous, and has appeared in many films since.
Rita described Kate's childhood visits to her house in search of her childhood crush:
"Kate used to bicycle over to my house when she was 14 to see if my son Colin Hanks was home, and Colin Hanks being a little too clueless to know like, 'Oh, my God, this amazing girl is driving by on her bike, like, asking for me.'"
She then went on to praise Kate and her accomplishments:
"Well frankly, if anybody's going to trust that Kate Hudson is the biggest, amazing, most wonderful hearted beautiful person in the world, then I mean who doesn't believe I'm [sic] Kate."
"Thankfully, I've never met such a misguided individual, except maybe my son Colin."
The mission of the Women's Cancer Research Fund is near and dear to both Wilson and Hudson. Wilson was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, underwent a double mastectomy, and is now cancer-free.
Wilson wrote about her experience with cancer, and the effect it had on herself and her family, for Harper's Bazaar.
She spoke with Vanity Fair about her experience as well, on the night of the Gala:
"After I got diagnosed, I was shocked and scared. I didn't know what was going to happen. What helped me was my faith. I'm Greek Orthodox. I was raised in that faith, and I still have a very strong faith."
"That really helped me especially when things were so out of control. My husband, my children, my brother, and my incredible girlfriends also helped me."
Kate Hudson apparently got over that childhood crush, though, as she and partner Danny Fujikawa welcomed their new daughter Rani last October.
Including baby Rani, Kate is mother to 3 children; her son Bingham Hawn, 7, from her previous engagement to Matt Bellamy, and Ryder Russell, 15, from her previous marriage to Chris Robinson.
Kate Hudson Belting Out 'Shallow' While Working Out Is Honestly All Of Us
There's nothing like a power ballad to push yourself through a strenuous workout.
Kate Hudson found hers as she mustered every remaining ounce of willpower to push herself past her limits during a Pilates session.
And that girl can belt!
What better song than Lady Gaga's "Shallow" from A Star is Born to wail her way through the private workout session with personal trainer Nicole Stuart?
The Mother's Day actress posted the video of her a cappella war cry and captioned it with "Gearing up for my in-living room Oscar performance."
She tagged the tune's co-writers — Gaga and Mark Ronson — and apologized for screwing up the lyrics.
While Stuart did her best to coach her way through Hudson's intermittent screlting, she finally admitted defeat as Hudson was determined to reach for that top note.
"This is impossible," laughed Stuart.
"I think I hit the note," Hudson said, hoping for a validation.
But Stuart, ever the professional, laid down the law and set her priorities.
"Why don't you hit the proper form, and then hit the note."
As far as we're concerned, she nailed that workout.
Wow, she can really hit those notes. https://t.co/wvzthd2E6A— Metro Entertainment (@Metro Entertainment) 1551020407.0

Many people were surprised by the actress's capabilities — both at Pilates and at singing "Shallow." Fans suggested she should do musicals or be featured in a movie showcasing her hidden talents.
But they may have forgotten Hudson dazzled audiences with her singing and dancing before in the 2009 movie musical Nine directed by Rob Marshall.
She absolutely slayed it!

On October 2, the 39-year-old announced the birth of her first daughter together with boyfriend Danny Fujikawa and named her Rani Rose Hudson Fujikawa.
This is Hudson's third child. She is a mom to 7-year-old son Bingham Hawn, with her ex-fiancé, Muse frontman Matt Bellamy; and to 14-year-old son Ryder Russell with her first husband Chris Robinson from the band, The Black Crowes.
Mom is looking great and she sounds amazing. She definitely sent us off the deep end with that impromptu performance.
