Every now and then you might meet someone who brags so much and so often that it nauseates you. But those people aren't as common as the people who feel the need to brag about the sort of things that turn out to reveal more about their inner character than they might believe.

"What's something people boast about, but you're totally unimpressed by?" –– This was today's burning question from Redditor aholo and it's fair to say they struck a nerve.

"Uh... congratulations?"

"I'm more tired than you!"

Uh... congratulations?

"I work more than you! You're a lazy freeloader by comparison!"

So... you're proud of being a wage slave?

"I've experienced more suffering than you!"

Wow, your life sucks. Also, is there some kind of self-righteousness contest no one told me about?

"It's a person."

Being famous, knowing famous people or being related to a famous person.

It's a person.

"When somebody..."

When somebody starts telling you how honest and trustworthy they are, you can bet they're not.

"I don't get it."

Expensive clothing. No one is against quality clothing, but don't make such a huge deal out of it. A Gucci cap is still just a cap, I don't get it.

"I went to a convention..."

I went to a convention where an attendee managed to get to the mic in every panel. She led every question with "I'm an army veteran..." then she would pause for the panelist to thank her for her service and for the audience to politely applaud before she asked her question. (Obviously the convention and her question were completely unrelated to her former job in the armed services.)

"I never get enough sleep..."

Said this another post yesterday, how little sleep they need to function on a daily basis.

I love sleeping, I never get enough sleep because of work/children/life and just because you've had three hours sleep, went to the gym and feel 'surprisingly fresh' in the office you aren't special Dave.

"Weird how the people who boast..."

IQ. Weird how the people who boast about having high IQs seem like dumber people.

"...doesn't make you some super transcended..."

Being an "old soul" or being "out of touch with their generation". Listening to top 40 classic rock and thinking that "getting milkshakes at a diner" is the ideal date doesn't make you some super transcended and unique individual, and it certainly doesn't make you inherently better than anyone.

"Note..."

How smart they are.

Note, they are never as smart as they think they are.

"But knowing the stress and pressure..."

I'm a teacher; some of the parents at school like to boast about their children's achievements (straight As, international competitions, etc.). But knowing the stress and pressure students experience for those achievements appalls me.

One must really hate their job in order for them to get fired.

Depending on the actual job, it's not that difficult to follow established rules and work protocols. Deviating from them just to get terminated can take more effort.

That is, of course, the employees are completely inept or severely disgruntled and have no problem going on a self-sabotaging mission to be let go.

Why can't they just quit, you ask? Well, that'll be less dramatic.

For many people, escaping to the woods, either in a tent or a cabin, is just what they need to escape from their current realities and reset their mind.

Allowing themselves to be one with nature, and cut off from technology.

Not everyone finds the woods a peaceful place, however.

Indeed, being cut off from the rest of the world, all the while surrounded by wildlife, it's easy to see why some people find the woods scary, and not at all relaxing.

Particularly if their time in the woods included an experience which made them never want to return, ever again.

The older you get, the more you realize that having a worldview can be a disappointing aspect of life.

It's all the knowledge we acquire.

Sure, the more you know, the smarter you get.

But the more you know, the less you can pretend.

History can be difficult to learn.

Everything opinion and thought can change in an instant.

Sometimes that is a great thing.

Sometimes... not so much.

Whether we're huge television watchers or not, most of us have at least one television show that we've really enjoyed.

And all too often, the show ends long before we're ready for that final episode, and we dream of a reunion episode or encore season.
