It's been a rough week, guys. The government is still shut down, everybody is mad at R. Kelly again - which means his sales are up, and you already forgot about that squat challenge. Awards shows are fun - Christian Bale thanked Satan in his acceptance speech and Chadwick Boseman and Michael B. Jordan got into a fist fight not over the Wakandan throne. We've packed up the holiday season and it's back to business as usual. The come-down off this holiday high is a rough one and we could all use a boost in the warm fuzzies.
I got you, fam. What's warmer and fuzzier than a pair of siblings ditching a New Year's Eve party to go surprise their mom who was stuck at work? I mean, I could throw in some cute kitties, but that might be overwhelming and I know half of you are reading this when you're supposed to be working, so I'm trying not to blow your spot. Play it cool, Sharon. Play it cool.
Dreah and her brother Josh are only a year apart, and they've been best friends their whole lives. Spending New Year's Eve together was a no-brainer. It's what they do every year. New Year's Eve 2018 was a bit different than usual, though. It was Dreah's first NYE as a wife, but she wouldn't be able to spend it with her new husband. He's in the armed forces and needed to leave that morning. The siblings lost their father to a tragic suicide a few years ago. Their mom was stuck at work, so she couldn't celebrate with them either.
The dynamic duo tried going to a party (side note: there were cats at the party!) but it wasn't as much fun as it could have been. The dynamic duo is usually more of a terrible trio with mom. Alas, responsibility is what it is, so mom was stuck at work and couldn't come to the party. Cue the light bulb moment.
Mom couldn't come to the party, but the party could go to mom. The pair surprised her at work.

They could have spent the night on the town. Dreah just turned 21 so this would have been the first year she could legally toast with some overpriced bubbly at a venue. They had invites to plenty of events with friends - but when your family are your besties, it's just not a party without them. Not even gonna lie, they look adorably happy.

Mom wasn't the only one working on New Year's Eve
I closed the bar tonight. I felt bad because it was me and my girlfriend's first anniversary. There was a 60 dollar cover and so we could spend time together I thought I'd do something a bit special and get her through the door and get a room at the attached hotel. We turned a bad situation into one of the best New Years I've ever had. She decorated the room while I was working and made a cake out of hamms and lil sump's (my favorite beers) and champagne glasses full of my favorite wine. My coworkers got together and rolled some nice new year favors for us all to smoke together which brought us all closer as well . I can sympathize with having to work on New Years, the people you love make your days, not your circumstance. Best wishes to all.

So there you go. That wholesome goodness ought to hold you over for a little bit. Things are rough right now and we can't fix it all; but from the looks of things, the kids are alright.
