Wanna completely ruin your mood? Try thinking about all of the horrors we all need to face in our everyday lives. The things that are constantly creeping in the darkest of places, which could be a lot closer than you think. If you remember to stay aware and stay safe, and you'll probably be fine.

Deleted Reddit user asked: What's the scariest thing going on in our world right now that not enough people know or talk about?

Those statistics are scary enough.

"A quiet epidemic. Lyme disease is the fastest growing vector-borne illness in the US. It is an infectious disease caused by the bacteria Borrelia burgdorferi transmitted to humans by the bite of an infected black legged tick. It is 6 times more common than HIV/Aids and twice as common as breast cancer. The CDC estimates 300,000 -1million people will be infected this year. I urge anyone reading this to educate themselves so that they can protect themselves and their loved ones. Education and awareness saves lives."

Time to cover those webcams...

"We no longer have any form of privacy or anonymity no matter how hard we try to keep it."

calmstresscalm

That sounds terrifying.

"The sterilization crisis in the medical device industry and how it impacts our access to safe medical products, and on top of that how major companies have been off gassing toxic ethylene oxide gas that has been causing cancer in people who live next to factories for years and no one gave a shit."

posnfen

Well this ruined our day.

"When Texas flooded during hurricane Harvey, there were 13 Superfund sites that got hit. A superfund site is an area where there are hazardous substances or pollutants on a huge scale. A bunch of chemicals got swept away into those flood waters and no one will know the effect for years."

PifeNasty

Disgusting, isn't it?

"Active, offending, unprosecuted pedophiles actively creating, sharing and exchanging child porn on the dark web. Over 70k active users. That's at least 70,000 people around the world and that's just ONE site on the dark web."

Brindlekits

We all need to do our part to fix this.

"I'm really afraid our planet will be ruined with all the trash in the ocean, the disappearing forests, the disappearing animals and much more.

I find it really saddening that people are ruining this planet and that the media cares more about stuff like political bullshit and celebrities instead of the health of our nature."

sassybucket

You don't hear about this in the news.

"How all religious groups in China are being put into concentration camps, started with the Muslims, then Christians and then the Jews. Millions of people are being tortured and killed every day based on their beliefs. And yet no body gives two sh!ts. And that scares the f**k out of me."

nottodayboo

We wish this wasn't true.

"Government corruption, and how governments are slowly turning against the people. It's only going to get worse, because they are so powerful, and we can't do anything. We can only vote for leaders, we can't vote for what they do. They're all corrupt, every one of them, does not matter who you vote for. Only the ones who are rich and powerful get to participate in the game."

RedSquirrelFtw

This is sadly very true.

"It's not really scary (everyone else said the important stuff) but the excess amount of ads and micro transactions in mobile games. I don't think it's healthy for us to be consuming that many ads all the time and I think it needs to be regulated. A lot of these ads are "fun" videos or mini games. Children already don't know when they are being advertised to so disguising an ad like that is kind of sick in a way. I think ads will get worse and spread more into our everyday life. People don't have a lot of money these days so I bet we will see things like schools putting ads on their lockers and buses to raise money, people putting ads on their houses and cars, even tattoos advertising stuff. People are desperate because their jobs can't support them."

SaveFile1

Wow.

"The slow death of the climate that we can prevent. Many people don't believe in climate change, or don't believe that it is man-made, but it is and it is deadly. The proof is in the fact that if it had never happened, we would be in a Literal. F**king. I C E. A G E. That's how much climate change has done, as well as proof that it is manmade. Please. If climate change isn't stopped in a decade or so, everything will be too late. Let's spread the word around to make a change. We are running out of time before we can prevent our own death sentence for all life on Earth."

If you don't have any experience with construction, it can be pretty interesting to watch those reality HGTV shows (I know I'm addicted at this point). Some of the best episodes can be the one's where they open up the walls to find the builder didn't do anything right, causing a huge blow to the budget. The drama!

As someone who doesn't know much about building, and is dreaming of homeownership, Redditor Vast_Recognition_682 asked a question I wish I had thought of first.

Unless you've been a member of the armed forces, you may only know drill sergeants as uncompassionate leaders who yell at privates all the time.

Years ago I had a classmate who was a total daredevil... so much so that he would often injure himself. He once drove a bike in the direction of oncoming traffic, just for the hell of it. He got out of that episode unscathed––luckily. By contrast, I prefer keeping all my limbs, and still have them all. I wonder where he is now. Hopefully not too banged up. I did do some stuff unwittingly––like the time I stuck a fork into an electrical socket. I thankfully wasn't shocked too much. I was young and naive.

People told us all about the dangerous things they did when they were younger after Redditor Not-an-Ocelot asked the online community,

"What's the most dangerous thing you did as a kid without realizing?"
