History is filled with anecdotes for us to learn from. But there are also plenty that are quiet funny to hear. The funniest historical fact I've heard about the Great Emu War of Australia... in which the humans lost to the large birds.

Redditor u/xavierdc got people to share funny historical facts when they asked... "What is the most hilarious historical fact you know?" And everyone got to learn something new!

Giphy

"Julius Caesar had a letter dispatched via messenger while the Senate was in session. Convinced he was sending a message to his collaborators, Senator Cato the Younger demanded that the letter be read in open session to be entered into the annals of the Senate forever. Caesar allowed the letter to be read, and thus the most filthy love letter Caesar had written to his lover at the time, Cato's half-sister Servilia got entered into historical record forever.

A burn so big, people still talk about it 2100 years later."

But there are very few people who don't have one memory of an experience that they wish they could forget... or even wish never happened in the first place.

Redditor Lord_Lazignac was curious to learn of experiences people had which continue to traumatize them to this day, leading them to ask:

"What event in your life still f*cks with you to this day?"

Dear parents born in the 80s/90s :

Your child is probably (we never really know for sure) not a weed dealer.
