People Describe The One Do-Over In Life They Wish They Could Have

Can't I get a redo?!

Regret is not an issue any of us love to face. And it's aggravating that its an issue we can never hide from. Regret often mutates into a poison that can taint the future.... but only if we allow it. We all have those moments right? If only I could change that one time, I wish I had never, that was the moment I should've realized..... we've all been then. Hell, a lot of us are still there. That's why I say.... time to move on. But first we must admit, analyze and accept.

Redditor u/Hisgirl10 wanted everyone to discuss that one time in life, where if we could have a redo, everything could change, if only, by asking.... If you had one do-over in life, what would it be?

Commit to something. I was always so afraid of a career path not working out that I had a toe dipped in a bunch of different fields because I thought it would provide a safety net. Turns out I just never fully committed to any of those fields and because of that there will always be other people more qualified for job openings.

GNARLY!

I'd NOT get interested in research chemicals. Synthetic Cannibanoids for one, I was hooked on that for several years, to the point of physical withdrawal. The

Methiopropamine for another, I should have paid attention when it was being touted as a "crystal meth" analogue. Garbage was GNARLY

My biggest regret, I suppose, is not exploring the wider range of psychedelic research chemicals further, and getting bogged down in the stimulants. Unfortunately I was a stem freak when I discovered I could buy them off the internet with next day delivery. :(

The easy answer would be not riding my bike to Dairy Queen the day I was hit by a car which fubar'd my left knee. I was 13. The problem with that though is that I really love where my life is now so I have no idea how much would have changed and I can't say that I'd end up in a better place.

So the real answer is: I wish I'd never bought a BMW 135i when I had a perfectly serviceable car already. It stretched my finances more than I like to admit and gave me a bunch of stress for the 3 years I had it.

Undergrad....

Reset to my first year of undergrad, take school more seriously and study Computer Science instead of Economics. Finance culture and work/life balance is horrendous, I have no idea why my coworkers seem so ok with working overtime every week for less than middle school teachers make in our area.

Grandma....

Sorry for your loss, i also wish to be able to do the same thing but i think this help us to reopen our eyes and valuate our family more and spend more time with friends and family especially our parents.

Knowledge is power.....

Go back to high school and focus more on my studies than caring so much about what others thought of me. As you get older you realize that you don't even talk to half or even more of the people from those years and your studies is way more important because knowledge is power.

Go back to 2013 and retry everything to right my wrongs.

Same. I'd be back in high school and probably join and sport and be more involved in school. Also wouldn't date my POS ex.

Family Relations...

I would go back to when I was five or so. At first thought it would be for wealth but upon deeper inspection it would be to spend more time with my parents. I've had a very rocky relationship with them and now that they are both gone I wish it was different.

I used to fantasize a lot about a life do-over, but at some point I realized that the path my life took is what led me to meet my amazing wife, so if that were in jeopardy in any way I'd probably decline.

Serving in the military is not for the faint of heart.

There are so many dangerous aspects to the job.

When people discuss it, we think about war and the sacrifice people make with their lives.

But there is a ton of scandal involved with the military.

Over the years, so much information has leaked about bad behavior and just everyday nonsense.

Just because a person becomes a soldier doesn't mean they're perfect.

Some people are not destined to be friends, and some are absolutely not compatible to date.

But sometimes we don't find that out until we're already dating them, and they reveal a belief they have that we feel is completely ridiculous.

People tend to gravitate toward various celebrities based on the work they do without really knowing who they are in real life.

For example, actors who play nefarious characters may have a legion of fans who love the rebellious persona but can be let down after discovering their personality is actually quite loveable.

We often tend to forget celebrities are people too, and their real-life persona may be contradictory to the type of characters they play in movies.
