People Break Down Which Non-Physical Traits They Find The Most Attractive

People who love to read melt my heart. I have long fantasized about meeting the love of my life in a bookstore––so far, that hasn't exactly panned out (we are in the middle of a pandemic, after all) but that hasn't stopped me from dreaming. What if they are out there, but they've been waiting for me in an entirely different section reading a genre I'm less familiar with? That wouldn't surprise me, come to think of it.

After Redditor AnxiousDistribution4 asked the online community, "What non-physical traits do you find attractive?" people shared their observations.

"I love listening..."

Passion. I love listening to someone talk about a hobby they're really into, even (or especially) when I know nothing about it. I might not understand everything they say, but there's just something about watching someone geek out about something they love.

"If you're way into a book series..."

I really like passion and enthusiasm, even if it's something I'm not into. If you're way into a book series I don't like and you start your explanation of things with a bright-eyed "OKAY, SO...." then you have the same base model of soul as I do.

There's something about bookworms...

...that is insanely attractive. I would know––I'm a bookworm.

"I really enjoy..."

Curious and tolerant. I really enjoy talking about my hobbies or things that pique my interest, always struggle to find someone to listen though.

"I tend to be very quiet..."

Holding up conversation. I tend to be rather quiet, reserved, and socially awkward, so oftentimes, I don't have much to say. I hate lulls in conversations because I never know how to recover from them. But I've met people who can basically eliminate lulls in conversation while still allowing me time to respond; those are some of the best conversations, and I'm trying to learn from those people

It's quite the skill!

Certainly quite valuable––it can come in handy. These are the people who know how to maintain the energy in a room.

"Knowledge."

Knowledge. Sounds really cheesy but I mean like how a lawyer, a mechanic or a pharmacist knows, like, a whole other language and gets excited about totally different things from me. There's something so human and amazing about the fact that someone's mind can be wired in a way my mind might never comprehend.

"There's nothing more wonderful..."

Being goofy. There's nothing more wonderful than someone being completely unselfconscious and laughing a snort-laugh, or getting absurdly excited about having a muffin for dessert.

"It costs you nothing..."

Being polite. It costs you nothing to tell the receptionist/customer service agent/ IT guy on the phone to have a nice day after they talk to you. Yelling at people who work in customer service/waiters/receptionists is pointless. 95% of the time they are trying to help you to the best of their ability. The server didn't cook your food incorrectly.

yeeks64

It definitely doesn't.

Years ago, I went on a date with someone who proceeded to yell at the waiter for forgetting to bring them a glass of water.

It wasn't the end of the world, but it was certainly the end of that date.

There was no second date.

"Back before the pandemic..."

People who just pitch in and help without being asked. Back before the pandemic, I loved having dinner parties. My friends, after relaxing with me for a bit after we ate, would just attack the dishes, wipe the table/counters and tidy up with me. I always told them they didn't have to, but they just waved me off and did it anyway. Many hands make the job go faster and then we'd all go back to chilling out. It made me really appreciate them.

Verticalparachute

"It may not seem sexy..."

Being organized.

It may not seem sexy at first but being organized means they have their act together, the maturity to handle responsibility, and are reliable and trustworthy.

Scatterbrained people can be fun to be around short term but long term they cause unnecessary stress and drama. No thanks.

PineapplePizzaAlways

"You know another world."

Being fluent in another language. I find that insanely attractive. You know another world.

WeeklyCoffee2488

This is all spot on.

And if you're having trouble wondering if you're attractive, chances are one of these describes you.

People Divulge If They'd Still Use Social Media If They Had To Share Their Real Identity

Reddit user pretty_monotonous asked: 'Would you still use reddit if it had the anonymity aspect taken away? Why or why not?'

Social media platforms like Reddit allow users to comment on strangers' posts under the convenience of anonymity.

While a majority of the comments people leave can be insightful or encouraging, there are unfortunately many trolls who recklessly leave hurtful comments and do so while being cognizant that there are no real consequences for such bullish behavior.

This led Redditor pretty_monotonous to ask an interesting hypothetical about what would happen if a certain Reddit feature became obsolete.

When intending to show a woman how much she means to you, giving her flowers is a fairly common solution.

When trying to do the same for men, however, what to give them is a bit more challenging.

True, plenty of men will be overjoyed to get a bouquet of bright red roses or pink and yellow tulips.

Unfortunately, there are still far too many men who are too insecure with their masculinity to be caught dead holding a single rose, let alone a bouquet.

Leaving one to wonder, what is an appropriate substitution?

CW: Assault and abuse.

Everyone loves a good true crime mystery.

The number of documentaries and podcasts reporting on murder and mass madness has tripled over the years.

People still make Dateline NBC, 20/20, and 48 Hours must-see TV.

Some cases should be too brutal to watch.

Yet we can't help ourselves.

We just can't seem to get enough.

As quickly as the internet and social media came onto the scene, many people can still remember what it was like before the internet was so prevalent, or at least when people were first getting acclimated to it.

Thinking back, they entertained the idea of the internet going away again, and the results were eye-opening.
