Foreigners Explain Which American Restaurants They've Always Wanted To Try
Image by Michael Form from Pixabay

As Americans, many of us take a lot of the food we have here for granted––especially the fast food! It's all so easily accessible! And, even better, much of it is pretty damn cheap, too. The marketing for these places is pretty aggressive and successful, too, which is why so many foreigners might want to eat at an Olive Garden (when we all know I wouldn't be caught dead in one).

People from around the world told us where they would like to eat after Redditor CrooklynKnight asked the online community,

"Non-USA Redditors, which American restaurants have you always wanted to try?"

"They kept calling it..."

"I was an exchange student in high school and also hosted multiple. All from Germany.

All of them had an obsession with Wendy's. I drove them after school every day. They also took like 5-pound bags of skittles home from Costco and found the place to be astonishing. They kept calling it the food IKEA."

nortrebyc

Food IKEA, huh? That's actually remarkably accurate. I love Costco more than any of the restaurants listed here.

"I can't wait..."

"Just any old-fashioned road diner. I can't wait for my trip around the country and the diner stops."

hornybutdisappointed

There's something about being in a diner that makes me remarkably happy. But be careful, there are tons of bad ones out there, too.

"I'm a big UNC fan..."

"Bojangles.

I'm a big UNC fan from the Philippines. I follow a lot of fans from North Carolina on Twitter, and they always talk about Bojangles."

thegreenbell

"I need to visit..."

"I need to visit a Krispy Kreme donut shop before I die."

Itsnotallaboutyou888

I mean... it's okay. The hubub over them in New York City was so weird to me. Then again, I'm not much of a person for sweets.

"I work as a call center agent..."

"Olive Garden. I work as a call center agent and when I ask U.S. customers security questions like, "What is your favorite restaurant?" everyone says Olive Garden. I've always been intrigued."

One-Laugh-Guy

"I have it on good authority..."

"Popeye's. I have it on good authority that their chicken is awesome."

Snerpahsner

Popeye's is my weakness. I am pretty good about keeping away from fast food generally but if there is an opportunity to get some Popeye's (and even better if someone else is paying), then I will go all out.

"I heard..."

"An American McDonalds. Why? Because they are different than here in the Netherlands. I heard they have different things, bigger portions and they are cheaper."

EvilAlicia

"It was a great day..."

"Five Guys Burgers & Fries.

It was a great day when I first visited the states and ordered my first gigantic burger, fries and soda. It really lived up to my expectations!"

joakims

I used to work across the street from one. It was truly magical. It just seems so much more expensive than other fast food joints! But I suppose the quality makes up for it.

"If there's one thing..."

"If there's one thing that America does very well, it's food. Personally, I've always wanted to try a genuine Philly cheesesteak."

Chapmeisterfunk

"Influenced by all the shows..."

"German here. Influenced by all the shows and movies I would love to go to one of those diners in the middle of nowhere getting some coffee poured, some burgers, or proper breakfast."

iLoveKled

You know what? I think some of our friends from abroad might end up very disappointed by some of these places, sad to say. But you know what? At least no one said Applebee's. Does it get more aggressively mediocre than that?

Married Couples Explain What They Wish Single Folks Knew About Relationships
Dylan Posso/Unsplash

Some people prefer being single. They don't have to answer to anybody, they can play by their own rules, and they can continue going about their day-to-day without accommodating the needs of a significant other.

But that status of perpetual independence can eventually hit a breaking point.

It makes one wonder while being single can be a convenience, are we meant to live alone forever?

Unfortunately, avidly seeking out a relationship is a hit or miss, so an individual's situation can be out of their control.

People Break Down Which Older Horror Movies Still Hold Up Today
Warner Bros.

Some horror films will never grow old. It's October! Get into the horror film spirit.

There are so many classics worth seeing. Last year, a friend of mine who had never seen too many horror films asked me if we could get together so they could enjoy some classics.

Of course we had to watch the original Halloween. They loved it. I wish I could once again experience what it was like to watch that movie for the first time. Living vicariously through their experience was well worth it, though.

When you're just starting to get to know someone, there are number of typical "icebreaker" conversations people tend to use to get to know one another.

Favorite films, books and tv shows, recent travel, hobbies, all shared in the hope of finding common interests.

If things seem to be going well, people often begin to get comfortable enough to move past the generic questions and begin to get more personal.

Which can prove to be a risky endeavor, as some intimate information might end up being revealed, which the receiving party wasn't quite ready to hear.

All scars tell a story.

Some scars people wear proudly, as they are possibly a reminder of their service dedicated to fighting for what's right.

Other scars might be more poignant, serving as a reminder of a life saving surgery.

And then there are the scars which we can only look upon with laughter.

The scars which we gained from such a ludicrous reason, that nobody will likely believe the story that comes with it.
