There's a dark side to knowing how the sausage is made. On one hand, you'll be more knowledgeable about the world at large and that's always a plus. The downside is you...know how the sausage is made. Dark secrets can lead to an awful legacy, especially if it's a place you're currently employed. You know how your co-workers behave once they hang up the customer service call, so why would you ever go back? Let's find out.

Reddit user, u/bengalese, wanted to know why you'd never shop where you work when they asked:

Why are you not a customer of where you work?

Who Could Reasonably Afford That?

Because I can't afford a $500,000 boat

K0jima

Can you borrow a 500k boat?

SexlessNights

Idk if they would let me, but we do get to go on rides if your name gets drawn in the lottery

K0jima

It's Not Your Time Yet

I'm only 25. Thankfully don't need hospice care and am hoping I won't need it for a while.

martorano10

Who'd Want Them Knowing All that?

It'd be unethical for my coworker to see me for therapy.

supermariobruhh

Same. Plus, I'm not eligible for services where I work.

Ayzmo

And...Gross

I work in fast food, and one of my coworkers regularly scratches her back with any food-prepping utensils she can find.

I've talked to her about it, the managers have talked to her about it, but I think she does it without realizing. I make sure to swap out every utensil she uses for a clean one but I'm not watching her all the time

PM_ME_UR_FAVE-SHIRT

How Does Nothing Get Done?

Because I can't afford the kind of vehicles we do repair work on.

Also knowing how often the electrics go faulty doesn't fill me with confidence were I able to!

hylian-bard

I don't have the money to hire me

jared040

A high-class sex worker?

A world-famous singer?

An estate agent?

A low-cost contortionist who struggles to pay the bills because you're not that good at what you do, and don't have enough time for a second job? Plus you immigrated to a new country and have to send some cash back to your poor and sick parents? You had to lie to them about how much you earned because they told you not to do this and take over the family lamp lighting business but you had dreams. You landed on Ellis Island with high hopes but soon realised that not was all that it seemed. Now you're too ashamed to tell mama and papa that you're not as rich as you promised you'd be.

RareSorbet

....the fourth one.

Silverdragon701

Hopefully, Never Needed

Because, thankfully, I don't have cancer.

HairyGuyGacks

Same. Are you in pharma or the clinic side?

GuiltyLawyer

Clinical research.

HairyGuyGacks

True Honesty

Because it is quite hard to f-ck myself.

MrDaftJack

Comcast support?

BobRossTnetennba

Beautiful

THX450

Sometimes, It's Easier Than You Think

Because my coworkers are there.

zanihippolysis

Probably the most truthful answer in this thread, no matter how you look at it.

Are they incompetent? Do you just not want them to know? Yes.

lifelongfreshman

Pretty much why I wouldn't eat at that restaurant. I have seen the kind of sh-t they do, and I never want them anywhere near my food. Plus considering the quality of food and service their prices are way too high.

Got the secret of why we shouldn't patron your place of employment? Let us know!

I love characters I love to hate.

Even when I hate them I can always find the reason they're involved in the story, so I find it difficult to want them to be erased.

Certain characters flaws and the most heinous decisions are written to further story and bolster the audience's love for the heroes.

So as much as we loathe them, we need them; much like our enemies in real life. That is what makes compelling drama.

Redditor u/nekoandCJ wanted to spill the tea on the characters we could do without in our favorite stories by asking:

People of reddit, what fictional character do you hate with a passion?

When we're kids, we expect the adults in our lives to notice everything, know everything, and maintain a just, sound moral order.

Modern medicine is a marvel. It's the reason why we've been able to effectively eradicate some serious diseases and improve the quality of health care around the world. When you take these two things into consideration, it's easy to see why vaccine hesitancy can be such a frustrating topic for people right now.

Many people would not be able to survive without the benefits of modern medicine. That's what we learned after Redditor forevernostalgic23 asked the online community,

"If modern medicine didn't exist what medical condition would have died from or been severely impacted by?"
