Employees Reveal Why They're Not Customers Where They Work

There's a dark side to knowing how the sausage is made. On one hand, you'll be more knowledgeable about the world at large and that's always a plus. The downside is you...know how the sausage is made. Dark secrets can lead to an awful legacy, especially if it's a place you're currently employed. You know how your co-workers behave once they hang up the customer service call, so why would you ever go back? Let's find out.

Reddit user, u/bengalese, wanted to know why you'd never shop where you work when they asked:

Why are you not a customer of where you work?

Who Could Reasonably Afford That?

Because I can't afford a $500,000 boat

K0jima

Can you borrow a 500k boat?

SexlessNights

Idk if they would let me, but we do get to go on rides if your name gets drawn in the lottery

It's Not Your Time Yet

I'm only 25. Thankfully don't need hospice care and am hoping I won't need it for a while.

Who'd Want Them Knowing All that?

It'd be unethical for my coworker to see me for therapy.

supermariobruhh

Same. Plus, I'm not eligible for services where I work.

And...Gross

I work in fast food, and one of my coworkers regularly scratches her back with any food-prepping utensils she can find.

I've talked to her about it, the managers have talked to her about it, but I think she does it without realizing. I make sure to swap out every utensil she uses for a clean one but I'm not watching her all the time

How Does Nothing Get Done?

Because I can't afford the kind of vehicles we do repair work on.

Also knowing how often the electrics go faulty doesn't fill me with confidence were I able to!

I don't have the money to hire me

A high-class sex worker?

A world-famous singer?

An estate agent?

A low-cost contortionist who struggles to pay the bills because you're not that good at what you do, and don't have enough time for a second job? Plus you immigrated to a new country and have to send some cash back to your poor and sick parents? You had to lie to them about how much you earned because they told you not to do this and take over the family lamp lighting business but you had dreams. You landed on Ellis Island with high hopes but soon realised that not was all that it seemed. Now you're too ashamed to tell mama and papa that you're not as rich as you promised you'd be.

Because, thankfully, I don't have cancer.

Same. Are you in pharma or the clinic side?

Clinical research.

Because my coworkers are there.

Probably the most truthful answer in this thread, no matter how you look at it.

Are they incompetent? Do you just not want them to know? Yes.

lifelongfreshman

Pretty much why I wouldn't eat at that restaurant. I have seen the kind of sh-t they do, and I never want them anywhere near my food. Plus considering the quality of food and service their prices are way too high.

Things That Scream 'A Single Male Lives Here'

Whether we realize it or not, we have certain "tells" that will signal to other people what life is like at home, whether we're hard workers or parents or travelers.

Even single men, despite their age, have certain characteristics that can be spotted from a mile away.

Drag icon RuPaul endorses love but insists on loving yourself first.

Otherwise, "how the hell you gonna love somebody else?"

It's true. It's an age-old adage suggesting that you have to genuinely love yourself first in order to have healthy relationships with others and have a much happier life in general.

But sometimes, it's not about you.

Unfortunately, some people take the concept too far and are convinced the world revolves around them and that they are the key player in the drama of life.

We've all lied, or been lied to at least once in our lives.

Some lies are easy to spot, right from the get-go, while others might have you fooled for years, if not your entire life.

Then there are the lies that made international headlines, and had the world fooled for years.

From Anna Anderson fooling the world that she was the Grand Duchess Anastasia Romanoff, to Mill Vanilli (need I say more?), some people were so convincing with their deception, that we are still kicking ourselves for being fooled.

Indeed, there are some who may have died peacefully knowing they had everyone fooled till the end of their life.

Dating can be frustrating, but it definitely has its moments.

There's nothing quite like the moment, however, of realizing that they are with the person they're meant to be with for the rest of their lives.
