The universe is vast. Literally infinite. So there's a lot of things that we haven't discovered yet.
However, some of the things we have discovered are so unbelievable that we can only imagine what lies beyond.
Here are some of the wildest things we know about our universe.
A planet by the name of Gliese 436 b (Just rolls off the tongue right?) is literally coated in Burning Ice.
The planet is about 33 Light Years away and orbits one of the stars in the constellation Leo. The outer sphere of the planet is composed of Hydrogen and Helium, with a solid pressurized layer of thick ice at a temperature of 822 F.
This phenomenon is possible because of the immense pressure exerted on the planet's watery surface, forcing the water to take a solid form. The close proximity to the nearest star is what causes the temperature to be so incredibly high.
On the topic of Planets, there exists a planet that could be made of Diamond.
From initial observations, it appears that the planet has a very carbon-rich atmosphere. Carbon being the building block of many materials including Graphite and Diamond.
So the Hypothesis goes that this planet is at least one third composed of Diamonds.
Moving away from planets for a second, let's talk about clouds. Space clouds!
This particular cloud is comprised entirely of... Alcohol! That's right, there is a cloud in space made of party juice. In truth, most of the cloud is made of methyl alcohol, which is undrinkable, but some ethyl alcohol (The drinkable kind) is mixed in there as well.
The molecular composition of alcohol is quite simple, with ingredients that are abundant in space, so it's not too far-fetched.
But still! Space Booze!
Let's bring things back down to earth for a second. This one is relatively simple. The difference between 1 million and 1 billion.
1 million seconds is 11 days. 1 billion seconds is 33 years.
There are an infinite amount of numbers between 0 and 1. And between 0.01 and 0.1. And 0.000001 and 0.000002 and...

If our sun was the size of a white blood cell, the milky way would be the size of America. And that's only our Galaxy!
One of the most iconic celestial objects that we know on Earth is the Pillars of Creation. These stunning clouds exist in the Eagle Nebula and were formed from the ashes of dead stars.
Allegedly though, about 6000 years ago, the clouds were destroyed by a nearby supernova and no longer exist. We should still be able to see them for the next 1000 years but after that, the Eagle Nebula will be a much less pretty graveyard.
All living things are just millions of chemical reactions happening very accurately.
There are more than 17 types of Ice.
Remember the Burning Ice planet from earlier? Well that kind of Ice (formed from water at intense pressure) is known as Ice VII. Ice VIII is formed the same way, but exists at a cooler temperature.
I'm sure you're familiar with the Big Bang. The Theory that once there was nothing, then everything exploded into existence in a fraction of a Nanosecond.
Well, as some interpretations of the theory go, 'Everything' also includes 'Time'. That means that there was no 'Time' before the Big Bang. Which also means that there was no 'Before' the Big Bang.

Atoms are 99.9999999999999% empty space. If you removed all the space and smushed all the atoms together, the entire human race would be the size of a sugar cube. A very heavy sugar cube - approximately five billion tons.
Venus, one of the closest planets in our solar system (both in structure and distance), is an anomaly when it comes to the length of its days.
Venus has the longest day length in our solar system, taking an incredible 243 earth days to fully rotate on its axis. This means that a full day on Venus is longer than a year there, which lasts about 224 days.
There are more atoms in a glass of water than there are glasses of water in the ocean.
If our Sun disappeared out of existence, you wouldn't realize it for 8 minutes.
And for those 8 minutes Earth would still orbit around the point where the Sun was.
Rapidly spinning stars that spew electromagnetic radiation. These stars spin so quickly that the waves of radiation pass over us in a matter of milliseconds.
Imagine something the size of our sun waaaay out there, spinning faster than your ceiling fan and shooting radiation at us.
Since you were born, all the atoms that make up your entire body have moved on and since been replaced by new atoms. In fact this happens about every seven years. So if none of the matter that makes you up is from the same you seven years ago, where do our memories come from?
Zoom in and magnify an atom to the size of your hand. Now if you zoom out the same magnitude, our solar system would be the size of a quarter.
Everything has holes in it. Look closely enough at concrete, marble, or even diamonds, and you can see space between the elements that make it up. Zoom in far enough, does everything have "holes" or space between it? Well, if you were able to keep looking closer and closer, eventually space diminishes so much, that two points in time actually touch, creating essentially a wormhole. A really really really small wormhole.
